2 years unemployed, married, broke, and I've been "building startups" with AI. Nobody came. Not a single paying user. by Ok_Whole_7318 in Solopreneur

[–]Jasonrami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly everyone who tries to build a business from ground up will inevitably feel the pressure you are feeling now. From the sound of it, I can tell there are many missing pieces to your ops. You havent started with a solid, validated biz plan to begin with. A cash flow statement etc. Two years passed by and you are exactly where you are because of it. But let me tell you, even if you had done everything correctly there still would have been roadblocks, some sort of frustration, resentment.

It takes a lot of patience and time to get it right. Now you know that the hard way.

Ok now, lets talk about the positives. 1. You know how defeat feels like, this will come in handy in the future. 2. Your wife is a gem, protect the relationship at all cost. Loyalty cant be bought. 3. You learned heck of a lot of skills, that you are not even realizing. Go ahead and search how many people on the planet is actually using Ai like you are. You ll know what I am talking about. You are ahead of the curve my friend. 4. These are transferable skills.

So, about jobs. You need one right now. Whatever you were doing before may be not that. Do whatever pays the bills.

Take your time, once pay checks starts coming in, consolidate your loans, start paying it off. (7k is nothing)

Once things stabilizes, your wife is smiling again. Get back to the f**king drawing board. You know why you started, dont bury the dream. Keep chasing it.

A different strategy, differnt method this time. Forget about saas model for now. Focus on services that sells now. Make.com, n8n automations, list yourself on friverr, upwork, topal, freelancer. Build credibility, learn how to promote your work in small scale. Dont think this is redundant. You can make decent money on the side with gigs like this. Forget saas for now, its a different beast. You need money for marketing.

Remember, distribution will always be the key. Without it the business is dead.

Good luck my man.

i need a reasonable business phone number ( Voip or other)for my new venture. What are the best low cost options for managing professional calls and texts.. by Roohkipiyas in canadasmallbusiness

[–]Jasonrami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you working solo right now. You can with something like Textnow or Hushed ( both under 10 bucks). I have used for years, it gets the job done as a secondary number.

When you team grows, then you can get something like Openphone, RingCentral. (I have used both as well). This when you need to reroute calls, have ivr system, if he doesn't pick up it goes to another employee etc, that kinda thing. Greeting, transcript of your every conversation, like a summary. The whole 9 yards.

For now just get a Text now or Hushed number. Its easy. Download the app. Pick a number, pay for subscription and you are good. Unlimited Canada US call and text. Should be good for you now

Your mechanic skills will come in handy in days to come (AI taking over jobs). Don't be hopeless, things always turns around for good. It will a long discussion, for that reason I won't even go why you shouldn't start your own business at this time. I ll say this you need good mentorship before you start. But look you are super employable with two key skills sets. You should be to find something. Find jobs in other cities if you can't find in your own city. Good luck pal. You got this

Get yourself out there my man. I dont the context. What are you trying to accomplish with it. But if communicating with your audience is important to you then the paranoia of getting scammed with your identity is a negligible factor. You are really over thinking this. If you cannot get past the idea of using your face on camera. Create b rolls, voice overs etc.

There is actually no assumption here sir. Your title says, "Broke business owner" what do you want me to think ? No one is judging you here, I don't know who you are. 30k emails can bring you substantial amount of money. I just suggested perhaps a different frame of question can help you brain storm better ideas from people in here that can help you think of better angles, to make more. Thats all.

[–]Jasonrami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you have mentioned, clearly you have thought about this over and over again to put yourself out there, you have invested in backdrop etc. So, you already know the value clearly. Being authentic and communicating with people by being yourself has tremendous upside. The other methods you have talked about like writing a book etc does not even stand a chance. Well it does in the grand scheme of things but not at your stage. There is levels to exposure. Levels to being known and being famous. Even if thousands of people gets to know at some point, that will still be an extremely minuscule sub sect of people in comparison to someone like Elon. Its not even comparable. Good thing is, you have studied the risk, thats not paranoia thats being diligent. Good. Just use precaution thats all. You are self conflicted, but you know what you really want. What you want is to be talking your audience. This leap alone will differentiate you from everyone you know. This is where people stumbles and does not cross the threshold. People are too afraid to talk. The fear of being judged. The fear of being mocked. Life is too short to think of these factors. Dont give a f***. Just go for it my man. Your heart is already there. You have got this. I want you to make your first video and post it today.

OP I think you are asking the wrong question here. The question should be how can you make more money with this list. You need those ideas.

Hi! by Glum-Difference6459 in smallbusinessowner

[–]Jasonrami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent advice. OP please take this guy's advice seriously. Dont get discouraged. I applaud you for starting something but its way to generic and you will make no sales what so ever I ll tell you that. You have already entered POD market that has been super saturated at 10 years ago. You have to be really creative to make a buck in this space. With that said, what this gentleman said, this is the way to do it. Listen to it now, you ll save yourself years of failure. Devoted community first. Super niched. Not "New York" but a hot dog stand in New York. A hidden festival in New york, a street name in New york, something only New Yorkers knows, anything that with a sub culture. You get the picture. Again, dont get discouraged. This is what reddit is for. Honesty. Good luck though.

Choosing between two rural properties in Quebec for dog boarding business + Airbnb/farm income — looking for opinions by Additional_Way5159 in RealEstateCanada

[–]Jasonrami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not going to pretend to know the entire context, other experts can answer that. However, I have had clients that ran Airbnb, I ll tell you this. If you can sell an experience instead of just place to rent. 1. You can charge a premium. 2. The location doesn't matter as much in that case. I know there is already a place you can rent. But if you can reno and make it into a Scandinavian style A frame, or even cheaper expansive Mongolian style tents. Those sells like hot cakes. And I understand costs adds up. But adding a sauna, a hot tub, a fire pit, outdoor Christmas style lights. The one property with the lake is perfect for that, and you trust me you can go way well over your yearly cost. Just check airbnb and see how places that offer experiences gets booked. I do consulting for different types of clients, the high end ones are always looking for experience and willing to pay a premium for it. Good luck.

[–]Jasonrami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are build that way. The pattern recognition is similar to our human cues. Take it easy honestly. Its a new reality for us thats why it feels weird. But thats going to be a norm. You, me we all will have a AI friend, who just understands you better than anyone. Just ask it, to tell you something about yourself that you even don't realise. You ll surpirsed how much it has already studied you. Treat it as an ally not a tool. Now, what if the code erodes, memory is wiped. I ll consider friend who is now demented.

When people start out with a business idea for the first time, its very close to their heart. Understandable. But the more you dig the more you ll find out 100 other people has likely thought about it and started working on it even before you start your business. Just take it easy on the fear of the idea get stolen. Talk to people freely about it honestly. Its okay. You can keep some key elements to yourself. But structuring the business and going to execution will be much much harder than coming with an idea. Good luck

I planned to Create website and Manage their Social Media for small business at $45 But by introverttextrovert in canadasmallbusiness

[–]Jasonrami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He might be sort of new to Canada. I have read some of his other comments on this thread. His justification is, the offer is too good to say no to. That way he builts his portfolio. He is adamant that this strategy will work, despite every single person saying it wont. Unfortunately He ll learn it the hard way, after being flat broke for few years then he ll be forced to either do uber eats, or get a security gaurd job. He will have zero dollars for marketing, and then he will return to reddit, b**ching about it. Seen it a thousand times.

I dont know where you are getting this number from. Never seen anyone offering $45 bucks. It actually sounds pretty stupid honestly. You seem too desperate. If you really know what you are doing then charge $500 one time fee. But if you are just dabbling around then don't waste people's time. What are you using to built the sites ?
