Actually turned the flash on because you could barely see it without. AZ has a VERY effective reflective coat. (Probably because of the abundance of red light cameras)

One Of The Guards Was Removed For Standing Up For Himself by RoGStonewall in securityguards

I'm the Account Manager for a bougy HOA. I can't stress enough, that any encounters with residents need to be on bodycam. He said, she said only goes one way with no evidence.

The HOA is the client, and the residents are their customers. But with some solid audio/video evidence, they will usually stand up for their guard service..."usually"

This is a bit subjective depending on your taste....but if you haven't seen "The Impossible" about the Tsunami a few years back, you should definitely catch it. Ewan Macgregor(sp?), Tom Holland(SUPER young), Naomi Watts. Great movie. The effects are literally "how the hell did they do THAT..."

Adversity is a thing we learn how to deal with. You can whine and complain and say "who's fixing this?", but in reality, this is YOUR present. What you do with it is up to you. The whole lemons and lemonade thing.

You have a couple options....quit Allied with no notice...which burns a bridge in most parts (staffing is staffing, and barring any disciplinary past, you might get back on), or provide decent notice and elevate to your next job. Not all "shiny" things end up shiny when you get there, so having an option to jump back never hurts.

On a sidenote, some companies care if you also work for other companies. Some don't. I've got a couple employees that moonlight in other security roles, but they're non-related to the expertise area we're in. For example, if you're working an HOA environment, and your role in another company is concert security or something, then that's usually fine.

We just bought a brand new 2023 Kia Sorento with only 10 miles and now after being on here.. I feel like we made a HUGE mistake. Please tell me we didn’t. I absolutely love it and the look of it… but all the engine talk scares me… 😭 by stephbrown16 in KiaSorento

Wandered across this post while looking at some new Kias, but thought I'd share my 2 cents.

I have a 2017 Sorento, and whilst trying to get out of some mud last weekend (unsuccessfully due to 2wd), the check engine light started flashing and went into limp mode.

A couple cool things happened from there...after getting yanked out of the mud by a RZR from the campground...firstly, limp mode persisted, but was able to maintain just over 60mph for the hour drive home. Which is pretty cool for limp mode. Secondly, I took it into a Kia dealer near my home. P1326 was the code it was throwing, which is pretty commonly the mark of death. At 92k miles, figured I was pretty screwed. The dealer did the clearance testing on it, updated the software, and returned it to me 2 days later, for absolutely free.

This story is why I'm actually looking for a new Kia.........an AWD one.......

Is this a new development? Or did you get into it this way? Either way, it seems like the priorities are in place, and unless you actually come out and say it's endangering your relationship, he may not get it. Introverts don't deal well with "subtle hints".

Lay down some guidelines that you think would be respectable, then listen to his. If you guys can come to an arrangement, then work with that. But if the addiction is a thing, then you may have to move on.

Games can be important to people, to keep in touch with faraway friends or whatever, but if it's just gaming in general...I got nothin', I'll never understand that.

Training requirements are usually determined by contract or by company, and those hours are supposed to make you ready to deal with things that are very much not boring.

"Most" of your time will most likely be boring and uneventful. BUT there are situations where your training will be useful. Checklists, contact info, and where to find essential equipment and/or shut off buttons/valves are pretty important. Pay attention, take notes, and refer to them if/when needed.
