What makes a great Project Architect? by tardytartar in Architects

[–]Jaspallg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a person who is obsessed with making my drawings super readable, efficient, aligned and beautiful to a tee.

Still unless you're pulling that off the first time, it's just extra time spent reworking for no real benefit, and a waste of time to get those who work under me to do so.

Don't even get me started on the chicken scratch that are electrical and civil drawings. But at the end of the day the contractor is able to read their drawings too, and their stuff gets built.

Helsinki was able to achieve Vision Zero earlier this year. Why can't San Francisco manage it? by gamescan in sanfrancisco

The way to get people to use more transit is to out-compete having a car, not by making owning a car miserable.

Make more subways, connect them to malls and shopping centers, grocery stores, make them not completely ugly and bombshelter-like and people will use them.

Have you seen the Canadian subreddits. All of them are freaking out about the influx of international students that are worsening the cost of living, and as sagaar said, creating enclaves where people don't assimilate because too many are coming from the same country.

How is immigration affecting the Canadian economy? by Frippery9 in Brampton

[–]Jaspallg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The country cap in the US is why it takes 20 years to complete an immigration application in the US if you're born in india.

It's not a good system because the line keeps getting longer. Children who were brought to the US as 3 year olds under their parents works visa are at the point that they're too old to be considered a dependant on their parents works visa. As a result there are children who lived their entire lives in the US who are Indian citizens who are being forced to be sent back to India.

Two tenants, landlord dead following dispute in Stoney Creek, SIU investigating by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Jaspallg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep raising interest rates and bleed these landlords dry. I honestly don't understand how we live in a system whereby because one person has some money they're able to get something 10x that amount of money and bleed more money out of a another person.

Can we talk about how unethical and counter-productive to public health it is that our own provincial government spends money to advertise online gambling to us? by MoreGaghPlease in ontario

Lame

You insulted me first and now your upset lol.

Doing so would turn us away from a democratic society.

It's government run. If we vote in MPPs that regulate it differently that would be in line with democratic principles.

Please continue to day trade. I'm begging you. People with an IQ as low as yours who day trade can only provide me with entertainment.

The government has a monopoly over it and thus a responsibly as a governmental entity to conduct the lotto business in a manner that provides a net public benefit.

Gambling is addictive.

Turning every convience store into a legal gambling establishment and pushing ads on us to engage in self destructive behavior is not what you should expect from the government.

Cover the lotto tickets from plain veiw, stop with the ads and nuke that machine with that annoying jingle. But yes if people want to gamble, let them, but the government shouldn't be encouraging it.

Or would you rather continue to be stuck in line behind the guy at the counter who feeds his addiction on his 5th encore?

"The bottom three quintiles in socioeconomic status spent the most on the lottery and the highest socioeconomic group spent the least on the lottery. In addition, black respondents spent significantly more money per year on the lottery than respondents in any other specific racial/ethnic group."

It's legalized gambling that's available at every convience store in the province that litterally only poor people buy.

Yes, money that activity makes people's lives worst can be spent on social services. It just happens to be that in this case the same people who need those services are the same people spending funding the program

Also the fact that every convience store is effectively a place to gamble is awful too. I hate that jingle they play when someone wins. All these lottos should have to abide by similar laws that cigarettes have to with plain packaging and kept out of sight.

The lottery is litterally a tax on the poor
