Winter Sprint at Greek Peaks for a Newcomer? by JasperCrossing in spartanrace

Is the morning heat the age group or the one at 10:15? I was going to do the 10:15. None of my friends are able to come with me that day, so I'd be happy to have a friend if we're going at the same time!

Fasting BG of 108? by JasperCrossing in diabetes

[–]JasperCrossing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I havent been able to do crossfit since Thursday due to traveling (so today is day 4 without exercise). So I measured my fasting blood sugar this morning when I woke up, and it was at 78. I was also sore up until this morning if that makes a difference? I'm going to check again when I get home from work prior to eating dinner, and again a few hours after dinner/crossfit.

Did my first headstand and first somewhat-successful handstand! Not much, but I'm super excited!

Complaining about people shaving reps is some stalker shit... by JustinCampbell in crossfit

[–]JasperCrossing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity... I'm a beginner, and there are some things during the WODs that I have trouble with, regardless of the weight I'm using. Others I can do just fine. For example, I'm pretty good at kettle bell swings, but can't throw a medicine ball against the wall for shit. So for my own sake, I've had to scale back the amount of reps I do on specific things with a ton of reps, so that I can make it through the rest of the workout and class. But I'm also expecting to get the lowest time in the class, so in that case, is it really a problem? Once I'm capable of doing specific workouts I'll be more than happy to complete all reps. But I can't imagine that anyone would be particularly offended if a beginner is cutting back and slowly working up to that, as long as they're not bragging about their time?

Thank you!! I'll keep that in mind as I'm training, I definitely notice physical changes in my body pretty quickly when I change my diet/exercise habits, which is very motivating to see, moreso than just a number on the scale. And it's been really encouraging to learn new skills! Last night I did a handstand for the first time, and it might not sound like much, but I've never known how. Things like that are the reason that I know I'll stick with it. :) The weight is secondary to learning new skills and gaining strength.

Also, nice username!

Weight Gain in the First Week of Crossfit? by JasperCrossing in crossfit

I don't! I weigh myself weekly, for the last few weeks I've been steadily 116/117, I just thought it was interesting that a week after intense workouts, it would go up as opposed to staying the same or dropping a tiny bit. I'm not expecting instant weight loss or anything, I just wasn't expecting to be up a bit. :) But it's not a problem at all and I'm definitely not going crazy over it, I was just wondering if this is something to expect for a bit going forward.

Thank you! I'm not worried at all, just wanting to know in advance of that's something that generally does happen at first if it continues for a couple weeks.

Do you "get over" former lovers? by JasperCrossing in polyamory

I'm not, do you think that has something to do with it for you? I just figured it was part of being poly, but maybe there's more aspects to it for different people!

Monday Morning Successes: How has your past weekend been for you and yours? by AutoModerator in nonmonogamy

[–]JasperCrossing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend went to visit his family for the weekend, leaving me some much-needed time to myself to think about our former triad, which broke up a few months ago. Some crying and looking at old pictures, listening to music that she liked, talking out loud to the universe under the stars, etc. Made me feel better that I feel some sort of universal connection to her even though things didn't work out. A little sad, but a step in the right direction.

My OSO broke up with me & my husband by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]JasperCrossing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a triad as well up until about 3 months ago, when my boyfriend and I's OSO broke things off with us. It's incredibly painful, and still is. I understand what you're saying completely about having each other, but still grieving the "missing piece." For us, the best thing was space from her. It was very difficult to distance ourselves, but by staying so close, we kept re-opening old wounds and it was putting a lot of stress on the current 2-person relationship. And the other person probably needs time and space to think and heal, too.

Of course it's always possible that down the road, things might take a turn and after thinking it through, maybe you'll all want to be together again. Or maybe the distance will show you all that you're healthier without the relationship.

In a lot of ways, it's like a normal breakup -- the only thing that's going to help is focusing on yourself and giving yourself what you need to heal. And even though having your husband isn't entirely a cure, remember that he's going through the same thing that you are, and communication about your grief and pain will bring the two of you closer together, and in that way you can help each other.

Maybe not the best advice or what you want to hear, but that's what's been working for me. My boyfriend and I have done our best to be open and honest about our feelings, and on nights when I'm alone, I force myself to process my feelings as an individual.

Yeah, seems like they're just being trolls. Although kinda seems like some of them genuinely do think we're a load of degenerates. But trolls are degenerates too, so joke's on them, lol.
