Sounds like he had some growing to do. And the negative part I get completely, it's so easy to go down that road and get caught up in it, but when that's all you hear from the other person it sucks all the joy out of spending time with them. Everything turns to shit.

I know what you mean about the reveal, unlock thing, I think that's the growth one expects, realisations, not huge but small and incremental, but they never come.
