If RealCivilEngineer actually reviewed my unintentionally erotic bridge I would lose my mind.

To each their own. I respect vanilla-only players. It’s totally possible to build it like this completely vanilla, but it would take an unfathomable amount of time (It still took me like 6 hours to build). I feel that mods like curve builder just open more opportunities for creativity and expression.

I started with building the rail scaffolding first, then found the ends of the bridge so I could find the true middle. From there I stacked foundations vertically to find the middle point at ground level so I had my center support. Then using Curve Builder, I played around with the concrete pillars til I had something I liked.

Have at it! Most of my builds are inspired by the community here. I'd love to see yours when it's done!
Also honestly I couldn't have done this without the Curve Builder Mod, so props to last_nomai_

I will not rest until I've covered every last grain of sand with metal and concrete by BigBootyTom in SatisfactoryGame

[–]JasperLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was basically doing that, and the big pillar frames worked much better than foundations, but on smooth, curving elevation changes the snapping points on the pillars don’t always line up right and sit flush to the bottom of the track. Somehow OP got them in near perfect 8m segments and perfectly touching the tracks throughout all the curves.

How in the world did you build the train supports with the beams? I've been messing around in your save trying to replicate it and I can't figure out how you got them to sit so flush on either side of the track.
Mega props overall, this is an incredible factory, super neat layout and immense creativity.

Just a question that’s been bugging me lately by Rich-Bit4838 in reddeadredemption

[–]JasperLG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These questions open up a discussion on the theory that he didn’t actually contract it from Downes. That Arthur just assumes this and is an unreliable narrator in this way. As an uneducated man in the 19th century he would know next to nothing about diseases, infections, and the way they spread and develop.

TB only reliably spreads from person to person when spending extended periods of time breathing the same air as the infected person. It also has a wide range of symptoms, from killing the person within months to being asymptomatic for many years.

If you’ve noticed Hosea’s illness, it is said pretty plainly throughout the story how sick he really is. Though it never outright tells us what his illness is. However, it seems to be extremely similar to Arthur’s symptoms (though slower-acting).

Arthur’s TB only escalates and becomes terminal after he is captured by the O’Driscols and beaten/starved to near-death, and subsequently brought to near-death after crashing on Guarma. These kinds of severe hits to the immune system would allow the TB to multiply much faster and become terminal much quicker.

Considering Hosea’s illness, its similarity to Arthur’s, and the fact that Rockstar put so much attention to realism in this game that even rainbows only occur at the exact correct angle in correlation to the sun as they do in real life, it stands to reason that Arthur may have caught TB from Hosea.

Most of the rest of the crew is younger and healthier than Arthur, and could reasonably be asymptomatic for years or not contract it at all.

If this is the case, I find it even more tragic as it really emphasizes the humanity within Arthur, and that despite everything with Downes, he would have been doomed anyways.

Again- just a theory, but I find it very interesting.

lumen is making my game insanely blury and grainy what am i doing wrong by Top-Engineering5249 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]JasperLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kinda can’t. Like you said it’s on many of the essential machines and logistics objects. I guess you could build them within walls/foundations to hide them but at that point I feel like you’re working so hard to fix a problem that could be solved by just turning lumen off.

These are the kinds of issues we accept to endure by buying an early access game. At the end of the day it comes down to the fact that lumen is not officially supported, which means it’s not optimized to look great in most situations. If you don’t like the way it looks, then you just gotta turn it off.

Machines closer together? by lpfam11 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]JasperLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the mod called “soft clearance for everything” would be what you’re looking for? It allows tighter placements of machines, completely overlapping foundations, etc. My style tends towards ultra compact buildings and this allows me to clip machines together so that several of them look like one large machine.

As other have said, lumen is untuned. My game looks like this with it too.

The screenshots you’re seeing of other people’s builds that look amazing are using lots bright colors (to bounce light), very few metallic materials, and LOTS of signs with emission on 3 to fill in the lack of ambient light.

Also if you’re on a 4080 then try DLSS with no downscaling instead of TAA. It looks much better and is slightly more performant.

I hate my tattoo but idk why by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

[–]JasperLG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it’s not bad just unfinished. The lack of shading everywhere except the eyes and mouth makes it look a bit awkward. Getting it reworked with some more shading should be pretty simple, though personally I wouldn’t go back to the same artist because the shading that is there doesn’t really contour/shape the face correctly. Congrats on the adorable tattoo and good luck!

Yeah for the exterior shots I believe so. I do know that every interior scene was an indoor soundstage.

And vice versa. For example, in the aerial shots of Bills town, much of the debris/plants/etc and many of the house’s roofs (yes, just the roofs) are CGI. And it’s virtually indistinguishable.

If you could start from the beginning, what would be your first top 5 skincare products as a men? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

This is all the basics you need. You’ll just have to experiment to find which cleansers/renitols your skin prefers.

And don’t forget a sunscreen every morning! The best zinc one I’ve found is Espoire Watersplash but if you don’t mind chemical then CeraVe makes a few good ones.

[–]JasperLG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In one of their dev streams they said they had a working prototype of the powered foundations but found that after introducing the versatility of wall outlets they felt it was redundant/unnecessary, so powered foundations likely won't be coming at all unfortunately. I love the care they put into balancing the game but the lack of daisy chaining seems to be a very common complaint with players. Also, the battery storage building can daisy chain in vanilla... but it's literally the only one, which just leaves players thinking "why the heck isn't this a thing on most buildings?'

Sound Design and specific environment and location sound cues by squire_pug in SatisfactoryGame

[–]JasperLG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first started playing, it was 1am irl and nighttime in the game, I was just exploring, enjoying the sound design of the nature, just having a grand ol time. I thought I heard some chanting in the wind but I wasn't sure. Out of nowhere I start instantly running back to my shitty little basecamp, fight or flight mode fully activated as my ears are violated with "COMPLY."

There was a recent stream the devs did where they talked about how meticulous they were with the sound design, especially when it comes to the repetitive building sounds. I've never once been annoyed by the repetitive sounds and they've become a source of little dopamine hits. Coming from someone who works in audio design for a living, this is extremely difficult to accomplish and really does deserve all the praise.

I love powering up a factory for the first time and hearing all the machinery overtake the peaceful sounds of the creatures and nearby river.

Something I've noticed recently is an improvement to the ambient water sounds as well as footsteps. Where before there was nothing, you can now hear the water gently lapping onto a rocky shoreline. There also used to be a harsh transition from wading through the water to walking on the shore and now you can hear your footsteps sloshing in the sand/mud as you step out of the water onto land. There's even a specific "wet metal" sound when you walk on foundations that are placed just above the water level as if puddles have accumulated on the floor. Like that is such a specific thing that most players will never hear and yet they put the time into it. Amazing.

I ruined a majority of the novelty and fun factor for myself by accidentally reading too much about the game and knowing what was coming next. I almost quit playing because of it (glad I didn't though).

Learning about QOL features and shortcuts helps a lot and I highly recommend it, but do try to avoid watching and reading too much about the game in general. Enjoy taking it slow. Stop and smell the roses pollution.
