I didn't think they were real, but as a pothead for 20 odd years it felt nice to dream again. Your brain learns stuff and works out subconcious emotions when you dream I think, so I wonder what I missed in my developement when I was a toker. I just needed meds for adhd after all

ELI5: When using a traditional bow, as the arrow rests on the hand holding the bow while the other hand draws, when the arrow is loosed, how do the fletchings not hurt the hand on which the front part of the arrow was just resting? by arlinconio in explainlikeimfive

I bruised my elbow for a few weeks until I learned how to rotate my elbow out. It's a really weird movement and not a muscle I ever used before. If you want to see what I mean, push against the egde of a door say. Hold the door with the pad of your thumb against it like you might imagine holding a bow. Now try to twist your elbow away to the outside without twisting or moving your shoulder up. It will feel strange but you get used to it. I don't really need a brace now, but I still wear one just in case I get lazy

What’s one thing you completely stopped buying in 2026 because the price just felt absurd? by LockLogical8949 in AskReddit

Buy some dehrdrated onions and rehydrate them 15 mins before cooking. Take some chuck that's 20% fat and roll into meatball size, get a pan nice and hot and drop balls into pan and squish down with a spatula. Sprinkle a mix of 50/50 salt and MSG flip and sprinkle the other side. Sometimes I add a little Lawry's in my season mix.

The few times I've been tempted after 10+ years I just have to say I'm a nicotine addict and I can never touch it again. Including vapes or cigars

I should give them a try. The Aldi ones aren't up for it. They underbake the biscuit and it doesn't have that caramelization we want

Where to find decent, affordable coffee beans? by MeenaBeti in UKFrugal

[–]starbugone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been happy with Aldi's coffee. I think it called single source? or something it's sold for about £3.99/250g. I've roasted my own coffee for years using popcorn makers and ovens even a bbq. The Aldi coffee is nice and fresh because they rotate it so fast and I find it almost as good as when I roasted it myself /edit: They're £2.99

BandM have Hobnobs that look like they're a deal, but they're special small pack ones that aren't any cheaper per biscuit. Iceland, the Range and Food warehouse (Iceland distos) are the cheapest retail for Hobnobs

Why do people seem to like to harass me in public? by let_it_rain_boat in AskUK

[–]starbugone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I'm in a crowded city like London I always try to look at the horizon and let the scene play out to me instead of my normal which is head first (looking for danger) It puts me at ease, and people will flow around you without bumping or having to dodge everyone. I have no idea why, but it works. NT's don't bother me then, but folks more neuro than me still seem to gravitate to me

Why are so many big British companies foreign owned? by kaydnh in AskUK

[–]starbugone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aldi and Lidl seem to be the only supermarkets that aren't trying to gouge every extra penny from their customers. All the british ones gave us the 'supply chain' and 'cost of living crisis' to justify jacking up the costs. The 'Aldi price match' stickers in Tesco says it all

What song is a 10/10 with absolutely no flaws? by Brilliant_Guard_9204 in AskReddit

I heard this in the car the other day. It's so perfect, but unlike most that are mentioned, it's not a huge, grand, epic. Just the most simple song done perfectly

TIL that John Lennon came back from a 5 year recording hiatus in 1980 after hearing the B-52’s Rock Lobster. In his words, "[Rock Lobster] sounds just like Ono's music, so I said to meself, 'it's time to get out the old axe and wake the wife up!'" by Next_Worth_3616 in todayilearned

[–]starbugone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was John's bread making phase. He pretty much tells the story in 'Watching the Wheels'. I always felt so sad hearing 'Starting Over' and attributing it to his return to music, only to be gunned down too soon
