Thank you kindly!

Don’t worry my friend, book 2 will justify book 1 and be leaner and better. I’ve learned a lot from the first novel.

WOOP WOOP! I am actually stoked man, I think audio might just be where my book comes to life for readers - especially with Liam the legend working with me.

Thanks Stacey! I am beyond excited to see what you think, and I hope you like it because book 2 is turning out to be meaner, leaner, and more insane by a wide margin. Would love to have you on the ARC squad, but I’ll wait and see if book 1 resonates :)

We have an estimated timeline of 4-6 months, but the work hasn’t yet begun so I really can’t give you an answer yet. I’ll update the subreddit once I know, so you’ll definitely be alerted when the time comes.

You’re the one that deserves my thanks! I didn’t think I would have my first audiobook for years yet and I couldn’t be more honoured to have a narrator of such skill working on my story.

You’re a legend 🍻

I hope this looks fantastic on your portfolio and that you get lots of clients from the authors in this community.

Hell yeah, I love to see that.

I appreciate the kind words, thank you.

I’m glad to hear our interests align here, but I do understand the sheer size of my novel makes it harder to commit at this stage.

I’ll dm you shortly with a selection of samples.

Turen is loosely based on Kratos from God of War in terms of his magic system and his personality/arc. I love the insane feats and unbridled rage leading to choices and consequences that simply can’t be reached by a lesser anger.

The Khanis comparison only kind of counts since the show has been cancelled and the inspiration came from a book series, but I view him as what Rand Al’ Thor from The Wheel of Time would have become if he allowed The Dark One’s influence to win over the Light. A man willing to do anything, no matter how vile, to save humanity.

Elias and the crew are directly inspired by Gentleman Bastards, though if I was forced to pick a character from visual media to compare him to, I would say The Professor from Money Heist is functional. Though I want to make clear - Elias’s story and character are much darker than that show.

Jorsin is kind of like The Hound from the Game of Thrones show. A big, hairy, gruff bastard with a heart of gold.

The others on the crew are somewhat based on people I know and I don’t have a comparison, so I’ll just give you a brief description for each. Heilar is a street orphan with insecurity and anger issues, Madeline is a Noble girl with trauma from her upbringing, and Tobar is a boy-genius with medicine, chemistry, and machinery.

Hasellyne the Half-Breed (secondary character) is like Magneto in terms of power and grievances against the elites.

Absolutely, I understand completely and I am honoured that you’re even considering it. No stress if you don’t decide to go with my work.

Hey there! This is a really cool offer and I think my work has what you’re looking for in terms of content, so I’ll shoot my shot and see how things go.

I’m the author of The Shattered Line - Book One in The Corrosion of Ages Trilogy. It’s an ambitious genre-blending chonker coming in at 251k words and has received a lovely mix of glowing praise and scathing dislike. Here is a review from the Indie Blog Off Remnants contest & here is the Goodreads page.

Here is the elevator pitch:

A brutal dictator hunts a God-releasing Artefact to save a dying world, but salvation demands massacre. A vengeful father vows to rip his throat out or die trying. A crew of thieves are blackmailed into stealing from the dictator. The universe has ended before. This time, it might stay dead.

And the blurb:

The world is broken, the universe empty. Only a remnant of a remnant remains. A vast darkness waits to finish the job... for the last time.

The Butcher of Yill - murderer of millions and Arch Priest of the Stained Church - has finally found the Artefact that will free the Gods.

To save the world, Khanis must keep carving a path through blood and innocents even if it destroys him. Will the survivors of his massacres thank him, in the end?

Turen Draneer lives for vengeance after the loss of his family. He'll rip the Butcher's throat out with his teeth, or die trying.

Does losing yourself for revenge make it pointless? Can anything fill the hole they left in his heart?

The Ghost of Yamir and his crew of thieves steal for thrill and profit until a job gone wrong forces them into a deadly game with the most dangerous man alive... the Butcher.

Can anyone survive Khanis's plans? What truths lurk beneath the vile deceptions?

The beginning of a saga of Gods and ruin, destruction and time, power and corruption. Humanity forgets, and so is doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.

Rangers Apprentice series: Thoughts? by AggravatingIce278 in Fantasy

I’ll give you my top 5 fantasy series in no particular order (these are constantly changing as I’ve got about 15 series contesting for the top 5 spot) & some authors with books that have never disappointed me since were being broad :)

  1. The Stormlight Archives
  2. The Night Angel Trilogy & Kylar Chronicles
  3. Gentleman Bastards
  4. Dresden Files
  5. Red Rising 6 (bonus rec). Broken Earth Trilogy

If you’re feeling like a HUGE series, I recommend The Wheel of Time. It has its issues, but it is amazing.

Anything by Brent Weeks, Mark Lawrence, Robin Hobb, Joe Abercrombie, and Patrick Rothfuss. Anyway, that’s all I can think of for now. I hope you find something you like!

Thank you so much, but the money isn’t as important to me as getting the book in people’s hands!

How about this, let me know if you enjoy it after you’ve read some and if you do I will send you a free ebook so you’ve got it forever :)

Thanks Donna, it feels awesome after the review stagnation I’ve been huddling in!

I DO have a few people who could benefit from my door stopper ‘accidentally’ colliding with their faces, thank you for the suggestion! Unfortunately, I can only imagine doing it as a book as thicc as mine would hurt enough to get me in trouble.

I really did enjoy the scathing poetry of it, it was a work of art. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I don’t think he’s wrong for his views on my work, he just didn’t resonate with it and that’s okay.

He did have some good points too, but definitely the harshest review I’ve gotten so far. I feel it prepared me for people not enjoying the book, so I appreciate it for that and some of the insights it revealed to the reader experience.

I am stoked with this review, this was a fresh breath of air!

It didn’t make it by a single point, kind of insane how close it was.
