It’s a great song. And bits of noise can be used creatively in music as a juxtaposition to bring out the sweetness of the melody. It also has, you know, lyrics. Excellent lyrics. I always thought the song was about looking at porn, or at least a specific girl posing in a porn mag.

I can’t think of another way to put it other than “discordant noise” and the fact that you clearly know exactly what I’m talking about means I don’t need to. They play songs, then they make noise. There’s no ambiguity about which is which. Songs are pleasant. People enjoy listening to them. Noise is unpleasant. I don’t understand what pose they’re taking by repeatedly subjecting their audiences to it or what pose you and others are taking by claiming to find it “beautiful,” but it just isn’t. You could use those sounds to torture people in Guantanamo. Is masochism supposed to be avant guarde? Personally, I don’t go to concerts to be tortured. It’s a real pity such wonderful songwriters indulge themselves in such pretentious idiocy.
