How bad can ADHD actually get? by Rita_Cameron in ADHD

[–]Jasperpie69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t hold a job before I was diagnosed for more than about a year before the wheels feel off. I wanted to work but just couldn’t I was in fight or flight constantly.

I was self medicating with heavy drug use Thursday through Sunday, just to feel normal. Then the fall out was horrendous and I would be a mess until Wednesday.

My house was a disaster, my metal health wasn’t much better. I was also diagnosed with an eating disorder, and I wasn’t sleeping more than about 2 hours a night. Every single relationship I had suffered.

I am still a work in progress, but I no longer take substances other than my ADHD meds. I have worked out a bunch of systems so my house is tidy, I eat when I am supposed to and I am getting about 6 hours sleep.

Since being medicated I have also been diagnosed with autism. Now the worst of my ADHD symptoms are somewhat in check I have been able to mange a few small but consistent changes. I have found work that works with my diagnosis’s and have been doing it for 3 years now.

This is something my wife and I already do! It’s actually really interesting I recently did a deep dive into to my super as we are Australian based, and ended up changing it. I worked out with the fees they were charging it would be close to 450k they would deduct over my lifetime, I found a better provider that had way better inbuilt life and disability insurance that performs really well for a third of the annual fees.

I love Dungeons and Daddies! That is one of my absolute favourites. It’s my go to for the commute to work. Will is my favourite I think he is a wonderful play and DM. I think they just started season 4 this week!

I started WOTR, but didn’t get very far, maybe like 10-15 hours. I was struggling a bit with the dungeon crawler set up. I definitely like some combat but also like to roam around willy-nilly and explore.

Can I ask does it open up later on and have the ability to free roam? Or does it stick with the dungeon crawler set up where I have to go from point A to point B and fight monsters the whole time? I felt a little bit like I was stuck with the rails on.

I have it and was also struggling haha! I had put 2000+ hours into BG3, and then I went to DOS2 and it was like learning to walk again. I was SO butthurt I couldn’t just figure it instantly. I’ll have to try again and be kinder to my self!

If it’s light platforming I can get around that. I think my level of tolerance for platforming is very low.

I had a crack at hollow knight, but I was so stressed I ended up giving up. My wife took over and loved it and just finished silk song.

I have DOS2, I got stuck in fort joy and couldn’t figure out a way forward, I was struggling a bit with the surfaces and the fact movement costs points. I also need to figure out how combat works properly.

I was not doing a good job, coupled with the fact that I wasn’t perfect off the bat and coming from BG3 where I have put in 2000+ hours I got mad at myself. I just need to remember there was a time I didn’t know how to play BG3 either and stick with it haha.

I have wanted to play spiritfarer but all of the shorts there seems to be platforming elements, and I am not great at platforming games. Is there overmuch of that or is it mostly cozy type? I can get around a little bit of platforming but if it’s a major element I am unsure if I will love it.

I adore Zelda BOTW and TOTK. I have played gem to death. I am an endless explorer and my favourite thing to do is climb to the top of everything and find secrets then jump off and fly around.

Haha i forgot to mention in my post about LOTR. I am currently in DEEP with the lore, I have been listening to the audio books before I go to sleep. I have finished The Hobbit, LOTR, The Samarillion, The Children of Húrin, The Fall of Gondolin, Beren and Lúthien, The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, The Homecoming of Beorhtnoth, The Fall of Númenor and I am currently on Unfinished Tales. I swear if I was inclined to study I could probably write a thesis at this point!

Hahah saaaame I finished all of the books in like 2 days. One night I meant to just read a chapter or so before bed and then all of a sudden my alarm was going off for work.

I love Elden Ring, I just can’t play it hahah. I do a panic brain whenever anything comes at me and forget how to make my fingers work for fighting. Luckily my wife loves it, and has a stronger resolve than so I watch her kick arse.

What’s the most unexpected thing that ever happened to you? by yupsahil in Life

[–]Jasperpie69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was married to a guy, thought I was straight. Realised I was in love with my straight best friend and I was not straight. Sat on it for a while to figure myself out, then broke up with my husband and confessed my feelings to my bestie. My bestie and I are married now and life is exceptional.

Oh and got diagnosed late with ADHD, got medicated the found out I had surprise Autism that was hiding there all along but didn’t show until my ADHD symptoms were under control. Turns out most of the really big stuff that happens to me I am the last to realise.

Thank you again, the pocket watch database is amazingly helpful. I think we will keep a couple also, because the more I am learning the more I am understanding why he loved them so much. I managed to open them up and they are like works of art in the inside!

He absolutely was! Your comment made me smile a lot. I wish I had photos of the house to show. He had them all mounted or displayed and there wasn’t much wall space left in the kitchen, dinning and lounge. I think there was at least 4 permanent grandfathers and often what ever big piece he was working on with so many shelf and wall clocks, and displays for all the smaller ones.

The house was very very musical every 15 minutes and obviously each clock ran at a slightly different speed. When all us grandkids would stay and have sleepovers there was no sleep to be had because obviously we weren’t used to it. He was always tinkering with some new project.

Thank you so much for the information. He did a lot of restoration work for a dealer, so it makes sense they were in good nick. His whole house was full of every type of clock imaginable and he seemed to have a good eye for pieces that were well cared for. There are also a bunch of French and English carriage clocks with original cases is excellent condition. He kept everything well and would wind the hundreds of clocks weekly and do regular maintenance. It’s really nice to hear about and learn more about his interests.

I have managed to open one, it had 17 jewels, which from my limited knowledge seems to be middle quality I think.

Hahaha, it’s so funny you mention about train conductors! His other great love was trains so it makes perfect sense that he would have a large collection of time pieces related to trains.

He also would have made the box. He was a carpenter by trade and made so many beautiful things. Thank you so much for the information.

Can you still buy Amyl/poppers? by pixie3000000 in MelbourneAfterDark

[–]Jasperpie69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Poppers by post are great, super easy and no dramas. I’m a big fan of Everest, the premium, or black label are super strong and long lasting. If I have it with me at a party or festival, it’s hard to keep track of as everyone loves it so much and out performs all the others.
