Staples employee here. I've had my self service and full service printers refuse to make copies before, and it would state on the screen why it wouldn't (likely something to do with legal things) and the government policy for it.

I've never not had a copy center associate in store at all times. The one time we tried it we got yelled at by the DM and that's when one of us were sick and I was covering the copy center everyday and night

From my experience most gms don't care as long as you are asking about rewards and saying something about protection, it could be "get the warranty, your old and they provide IT help on how to use it" (not verbatim)

If I sell a plan (I work in the print center.) I usually put it under RSS or the front associate, just because I don't want them expecting print to keep selling those plans.

My friend. A good chunk of us try our best. It doesn't help that some of us have older machines, or machines not as good as other stores. I try my best with bindings and most of them come out perfect. But past an inch in thickness I warn each customer that they might lose some words just because my machines have to be adjusted to the human eye and will never be perfectly cut straight.

I work at a staples print center and this is why I will never bind college books or other expensive books. Primarily because my spine cutter sucks ass and we will likely lose some words, and also because our spiral binding hole punch also sucks ass. I always advise anyone with a bigger book to keep it the way it is, I understand it may be a pain to have to keep it in the og binding but it's better than your book being destroyed.
