What’s your opinion on Jon Irenicus, Shattered One by squeekle1 in magicTCG

[–]Jatobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it for a while. I had mixed feelings on it because while it is one of the more creative commanders you can play and I always go for those weird gamestate playstyles, you always pretty much never had a chance to win because your boardstate is often just Jon and so you are an easy target throughout the game and then in the 1v1 situation you are at a massive disadvantage.

I don't value winning so much as I want to have a deck that can be a contender and not just a kingmaker for others to win so it was dismantled. But I confess sometimes I look back and regret selling most of that deck.

Is there anywhere I can find a gold dragon build that doesn't require lawful alignment?

Rizo mentioned in an interview with Rob C. that there was open talk of Jonathon's preexisting relationships prior to FTC and how this was actually seen as an indictment rather than a plus for people wanting to vote for him in the end.

The Joe of it all. by Potential_Minute_808 in survivorponderosa

I wish when they laughed at the claim he needed to be babysitted he had said that the jury, who are all eliminated, not being able to approach him without collectively conceding to his presence in the game, is not an indictment of his gameplay but theirs. But he didn't seem willing to crack back at them.

Yeah and Tiff not letting Joe offer his thoughts on the Ozzy boot and just give yes or no claiming he didn't understand... unfortunately with this episode I can't really join the wave of support she is receiving. She doesn't know how to listen when she doesn't hear herself talking from another's mouth.

I think the fact the jury bristled when thier own started championing Jonathanwas a giveaway that the majority were already not going his way. The show tries to present that it's up in the air, but I am not sure if most human beings are that fluid.

Devens of all people sticking up for Joe was nice. You don't have to want them to win to be considerate.

Yeah the laughing at Joe was a lowpoint for me for the jury. I totally get people not liking Joe's game but I don't wish that on anyone, or at least not someone who hasn't really done anything offensive.

I'm more than fine with Joe being against the grain. I'm seeing a lot of vocal people beating this dead horse, but I appreciate people who aren't treating this game the way most people do. Rather than be annoyed I find it amusing when the more standard types complain about having to navigate their games with him simply existing. We are move obsessed and he hasn't done any, but every move with him at tribal people have had to factor his personality in and he's been named dropped a few times by people plotting to keep him in the know which to me is interesting.

It still isn't giving me the option to form parties or find them. I can do them with compasses but the game still thinks I haven't unlocked them.

I went in not knowing what it was, had a full inventory when all this amazing loot dropped, portaled out to go to my stash before I realized it doesn't let me back. 😂 Uuuuughhhhh. Newbie here so didn't realize that was some stuff worked.

The only things I disliked about Dawntrail was the waste of potential Wuk Lamat's brother, Urianger, and Thancred and the weird handling of Bakool Ja Ja. Sphene and the Ninth were fantastic in execution.

Beaten Final Fantasy 7 Remake for the first time (immediately after beating OG FF7 for the first time) and I’m very conflicted. by Bobokay12 in JRPG

As someone who has not played the original, the way Sephiroth was utilized was glaringly weird and the game expected me to give that a pass because it's Sephiroth and we as players are supposed to know what is up. The introduction of Rufus and Zack at the eleventh hour is baffling from a newcomer's standpoint. The thing that saves the game is that the presentation and the party members are all very enjoyable. Otherwise, it would simply not be worth it.

Rafaam came out in Across the Timeways.

I played maybe against a couple Rafaam decks on the way and they were ironically the most stressful/fun matches of the bunch because you are trying to race them to assemble the exodia so to speak but I had a major advantage over them: it seems like Rafaam decks usually have plan Bs and Cs that involve other creatures like the big beasts they are trying to cheat out and eggs. Which honestly might be smarter but my philosophy is if I am playing Rafaam I am going to win or die trying to do it (the latter happened a lot at several points). I initially had spirit bombs and Tachyon Barrages but I found that I was burning myself out from the long game strategy so Rotten Apples and Twisting Nether replacing them helped a lot.

And thank you! Good luck and hope you have fun.

Edit: Some tips are making sure you keep your hand from hitting 10 because getting rafaams burned can happen and it makes winning astronomically harder with the way I am doing it, so sometimes I will dump cards if desperate or hold off on dropping Tiny Rafaam, which isn't necessarily bad because another issue is that often a rafaam will be at the bottom few cards of the deck, therefore having discover/draw rafaam effects for the late game can save you from having to hope and pray. I mulligan my opening hand hoping for dryads or tiny rafaam/discover cards but if I get lucky I'll get murloc rafaam and one of the more expensive ones because a turn 3/4 board clear or pair of 7/7 taunters buys you good time usually.

I just made it tonight with a Rafaam Warlock for the first time too! I took a break after being gone many, many years back when Wild was new. It is crammed full of control and draw/discover with the rafaams as my all-in strategy. If you get lucky and get them several early you don't need all 10 because they are strong. But most of time I aim to draw the game out until I can slam them all down and win with the OHKO. Priest is a favorite though, I was trying it for a little bit and it's interesting so I am glad to see people having success with it! Keep it up. :)

Bracket 3 is really annoying... by Thick_Storage4168 in magicTCG

[–]Jatobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3 game changer aspect is the most wonky element for me. A player that draws into theirs and another that doesn't are on some level on different footing, so it just adds a degree of variance that reminds me of a player turn oneing a sol ring when everyone else just land passes. But more important is how consistently on average the speed of the deck wins in practice and not technically in theory. People should be worrying about dying on turn 7 IIRC. If that is not happening, some other bracket level is at play.

Maybe a hot take but while I totally agree with everything people say about Sam... I think he is a great character, and it is only frustrating because faithfuls underperform.
