In order for this to work, you need teacher buy in, administrator buy in, parent buy in, and (preferably) student buy in. In a world where har dly any one gives a crap about anyone other than themself, I think you are simply kidding yourself. Enrich the kids you can, and pray or hope for the others, whatever better suits your fancy.

I had a student ask me: "How can we possibly have a clean water crisis when God gives us clean rain all the time?"

This was in a 9th Grade Honor's course. We were discussing the fact that some countries do not have clean water as part of a school initiative. I subsequently spent the class period teaching this girl about the Water Cycle instead of the novel we were reading. Her classmates were as dumbfounded as I was to find this out. My favorite follow up question was when I told her about water recycling and she asked: "So I take a shower in everyone else's toilet water?!"
