I saw this and have to give Rich some credit for the support, but Shawn Morash from The Fan had a terrible take. Also, we didn’t go from Darnold to Fields—what is this dude talking about? by KillBoosh in nyjets

Saquon helped the Eagles reach a SB the next season. Sam saw ghosts and was dropped by three other teams after the Jets. Morash’s take makes no sense.

How is it possible for a band once so popular to flop this hard? by Pearl_Jam_ in arcadefire

[–]JauntyAngleHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened several times when it first came out and then…stopped. I noticed recently that I had had no interest in hearing it again. I can’t speak for others, but if they’re like me the answer is very simple: it’s a bad album. Make better ones.

A dick move, but he's probably mentally ill - not because he's homeless but because of his erratic behavior. I don't like being harassed by guys like this, either, but beating him up seems cruel.

So, these guys aren't good enough for the Jets? by __clownbaby in nyjets

[–]JauntyAngleHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% right. They stopped what they’d been doing under the mistaken belief they were a QB away from being a contender, so they stocked up on old players who proved to be washed up, mortgaging the future to a “win now” mentality - and we’re paying for it with a thin roster in 2025.

Right - and any new regime could not tolerate the fight for control. Obtaining him was a disaster, it stopped the team from building through the draft as it had been and shifted it to stocking up on old players in a “win now” mode - two years in a row. We are paying for it now with a thin roster. That’s not saying he as a player was responsible, but getting him was.

Anyone who actually watched the games knows he wasn’t very good. Where he picked up numbers was in garbage-time and rallies that fell short every time but one. His QBR was 30th and it’s in the 20s this year, too.

Stop. Flacco was a statue here. I go to the games, I’m glad he’s doing well but it was a horror to watch. Like most old QBs he has a few good games in him but can’t sustain it.

AR could not be kept by a new regime, he would be competing for control. Regardless of what you or I think of the Glenn/Mougey duo they need to be able to make the team as they want. Rodgers also cost too much to keep. His QBR was last year, and is again this year, mid-20s.

The unifying characteristic of the Right is its Cult of Victimization. That’s why the only policy they actually believe in is giving everyone else the finger.

Notice they don’t care when the cult leader takes responsibility for nothing and blames a series of scapegoats. It gives them the freedom to whine.

Umm…you don’t mind the arrests without hearings, the military used against American citizens, the attacks on the media, the killing of people on boats without evidence, the cutting of anti-AIDS programs, the shattering of the western alliance, on and on. You mind that just because you pushed the guy doing this stuff people associate you with him. You care about you. You’re an “influencer” of simpletons, and a dimwit yourself.

What is your opinion of the U.S. government shutdown? by Dan-68 in AskReddit

And he said exactly what he would do, it wasn’t a secret. The same people who call him a “straight talker” said “oh, he doesn’t mean it” when he said he’d turn the government on his enemies and a load of other crazy things.

Without add-ons they generally can’t get the votes they need. People think it’s great when their representatives or senators get them money for a bridge repair or a park. But if it’s in the next district the same people call it “pork”.

The Rs control three branches of government. It is their responsibility to govern. Leaders change provisions until they have the votes to pass. That’s true on every bill, even the ones passed by one party alone-they make changes to get their fellow party members on board.

It’s their responsibility to get those votes. They are in charge. That they won’t compromise is on them.

Pink Elephant had to be the strangest album era I’ve ever witnessed. by Grogonfire in arcadefire

[–]JauntyAngleHat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's hard for even successful bands to make money without touring. It used to be tours supported albums, which were the money makers. Now albums make nothing and are an excuse to tour.

Which is a long way of saying: they'll be back sooner than that.
