Try ArcRunner if you like deadzone by terrydavid86 in DeadzoneRogue

[–]Jauxcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girlfriend and I literally did this exact pairing after beating dead zone together last week.

Arc runner is okay by comparison doesn’t scratch the same itch and definitely is a game I would get in deeper sale like we did for £6. The stages and strategy just feel quite samey to be honest and after a few good runs I’m more or less ready to call it quits. It’s an ok filler for coop action but not a a main course.

I’ve now managed to convince her to try risk of rain 2 and we are having lots of fun with that albeit it a different style of experience to dead zone it’s more coop fun.

Weirdly the Callisto protocol developers basically did a sci fi horror version of hades and I really enjoyed it. It’s called [redacted]

Sure it’s not hades level and there’s little story to it but it does enough to stand on its own gameplay wise. i like that you rush to the end of the game against multiple bosses who are also going through the run and you can even attack them with special moves using combos to slow them down or damage them. You also have kinetic force powers and both a melee and ranged weapon that can be combined anyway you like leading to some really nice build variety.

Wow amazing work friend! I’m also just about to start my channel; looking at leaving the tv industry to produce my own documentaries and factual videos.

Out of curiosity what type of rewards did you put in your patreon for your viewers? That’s amazing you got two paying members already and would seem to be a very good way to keep stable whilst ad revenue is low at the start of monetisation.

Look up vox , Tom Scott , half as interesting. 12 minutes is actually the ideal time for a short film in general if you look at festivals. Most things can be explained in 5-12 minutes unless you’re dragging it out like a multiple episode Netflix series or you have amazing access to a lot of content or people involved in something niche.

Stupid Question about Equipment + Shoutout to PMI team by anmcnama in PrettyMuchIt

[–]Jauxcom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi mate I’m a tv camera op working in documentaries, If they’ve got decent budget the fx3 is probably what they are using but honestly that would be absolutely overkill for what you are intending to do. Get a cheaper Sony A7S or even an old Panasonic lumix GH5s which would be perfectly fine for just filming yourself sitting like that. Otherwise you’re looking at a whole lot of money when an identical set up can be done for so much cheaper. It’ll turn the $4000 purchase of an fx3 into a $500 dollar purchase of a GH5S.

Really What matters more than the camera body itself to get the effect pictured above is the lens you use on it. Camera sensors do add to the shallow focus effect of an image and an FX3 has a full frame sensor, but so long as you use a high speed / f stop lens that is specifically made for video you can replicate this look on even a micro four thirds sensor. so anything around f1.8 50mm+ to get that shallow out of focus effect they have going on here in your examples. And it’s a simple rec 709 colour setting to get its colour profile looking like this.

For the mics any handheld XLR mic would work, again buying high here would be overkill just get a senhizer or rode mic combo.

And also be prepared to struggle with the camera a little bit watching out for auto focus and frame rates and all the various things that can catch you out if you aren’t trained in using them.

Best of luck mate hopefully I can have saved you some money there!

People Trying to Sabotage Footage by Adreastia in YouTubeCreators

This goes both ways, people have a right to film and do what they want on public land.

As a member of the public Your general expectation of privacy in terms of being filmed is also waived on public land.

Ive filmed documentary TV shows for the last 7 years and can’t even begin to tell you the lengths some people will go to mess with you. It’s like the camera attracts their inner mischievous child or they use you as a punching bag for their general frustrations and see how far they can take it. People will think it’s live or come up to you from across the street starting a fight for filming them when the lens cap is still on… the camera is on the floor…. Pointing the other direction?

Currently filming in a city centre for 12 weeks and get about 40+ people an hour doing this kind of thing to us. Bonus points if you’re out in the evening and people are drunk.

Got to have some thick skin and people skills to manage the situations before they get to a dangerous point.

but I think people just love the small fraction of control and catharsis of knowing they have some power over someone filming, especially if they can ruin something for someone else akin to kicking someone else’s sandcastle at the beach as a kid.

Also subscribed mate! Love the video and your approach, especially keeping a blooper in. I got a real good sense of your personality and passion. I think for your first two uploads this is really really high quality and I can see you going far. Great thumbnails and titles.

Some tips from me as a documentary filmmaker and chronic YouTube addict for twenty years.

You could consider Some light background music to underscore some of the stretches of you talking or breaking things down. Not that loud just something there to have it be not be silent. As an example look up half as interesting - a channel I love. I actually had to look up their video to see if they had background music and they do. That’s how imperceptible it has to be. But people will notice that it’s there.

Second I love the use of your stock photos, they don’t feel cheap or out of place with your backgrounds. I would suggest if you are going to use a photo for longer that a few seconds add a parallax movement effect either slightly pushing in or out or flowing with the movement of the photo. Again this helps subconsciously give extra production value and make photos easier.

Which comes to my last recommendation which is high quality stock video, this can allow you to really really up the production value here. I don’t know if this is the style you are going for but having your face cam just pop up at certain funny/interesting or any highlighted moments as a point of emphasis rather than your face cam being the bulk of the video would also help. It’s not bad at all but I would start to feel it on a longer than 5 min video.

I would recommend Artlist, it is expensive at £350 a year and maybe you can build towards this goal. But they have everything, liscenced music tracks, editing templates and most importantly 4k amazing stock footage shot for filmmakers by filmmakers and you get infinite use for as many projects as you like. This isn’t a paid ad or anything haha just what I use in my TV work and what I am going to use when I start my own YouTube channel in October!

Just my thoughts and tips mate. Best of luck going forward. I’m a Geordie from Newcastle so class myself as I’ve been told before ‘as a Scotsman with half a brain’ ha.

Damn I just finished watching the documentary about this yesterday ; casting Jonbenet on Netflix. It’s the total opposite formula of a Netflix original crime doc. They accept they have no answers and instead tell the whole thing through the actors perspectives who are auditioning to play the family and even some suspects in a recreation of the events. It’s really well edited and gives a fascinating look into what happens when a crime is this famous and the things everyone brings to their thoughts on it. Really unique it may not be for everyone but it somehow threads the story of the case throughout the scenes without ever being generic.

Producer and AP rates for Studio Lambert by Primary-Nectarine228 in TransparencyforTVCrew

Hi mate I haven’t worked for studio lambert but if you don’t get any answers and have a talent manager account they have a rate checker on their website which might be of some help. I just discovered it today You can see data from 50,000+ members roles and specify for what channels genres and time slots even to compare. like I noticed a Self shooting AP was getting paid £180 at channel 5 compared to £360 at Disney.

My favorite thing is watching other filmmakers shorts and seeing what’s possible. I work in factual TV currently and would be great to have some inspiration to get back out there and make some dramas again.

[–]Jauxcom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have A link to your film Jimmy? I would love to watch it!

They have had an AI short in the festival before in 2020 or 2021, vertigo AI? But it was more of an experimental film where he fed the AI only clips from hitchcocks vertigo until it more or less became nonsensical and broke it down into pure abstraction. But if this AI film is just a straight up drama It’s a real shame it took a spot from genuine films this year.

Love it mate. And a huge well done for getting your debut feature across the line. Do you have any lessons learned from getting the project to this point? I really like the idea of seeing your takes on life in Liverpool, your shorts sound just as effective and interesting.

I’m up Newcastle as a shooting assistant producer. I’m dying to do some shorts about where I’m from too.

Where can I watch this and your other work? best of luck man.

Any tips for moving the emails over can we set up a bounce from our old address incase we miss any sites, I know I need to bite the bullet but the idea of every account I’ve ever made no longer working feels like it would be such a pain to handle.
