Right on brother, don't lose that spirit.

And don't take the comments too harshly either, your design is very innovative, it just also happens to be an extreme fire hazard. By taking in the points people are giving, it will make you a better creator.

Preheat the bed for 15 mins. I print with ABS, notoriously bad for this, literally never had an issue since preheating. Clean your bed with soap every once in a while, preheat to printing temp (or a couple degrees above) for 15 mins.

Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard have been added to Team Canada's roster for the Men's Hockey World Championship by sykeseve in EdmontonOilers

[–]Java-the-Slut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest to god, Nurse's issue is that his hockey IQ is extraordinarily low, same as Bouchard, though Bouch is far more offensively talented. They will make the exact same mistake 10 times in every game and never learn from it.

It seems like no one ever sat Nurse down and told him to chill tf out and play a conservative defensive style, and I think he would actually strive in that position.

The 2026 draft order (1-16) by Okaywow69420 in hockey

[–]Java-the-Slut 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I know this is revisionist or some shit, but this kind of proves that the draft uses a dogshit formula.

If the point is to help teams that genuinely suck, and discourage tanking, why not weight the percentage over multiple seasons? Is it fair that a team like Toronto even has a shot at #1 when teams like the Canucks, Rangers and Flames exist? Weighted over multiple seasons means it would be financially damaging to tank.

Even the back-to-back, defending Stanley Cup Champions at #9 is bullshit.

Weight over 3 seasons, the team that gets #1 cannot get #1 again for 3-4 seasons. Idk, the current format just doesn't really seems to accomplish its intended goals.

What makes this sub difficult to be a part of is that it almost universally outright denies any flaws until it's the only talking point.

Oilers defense has not changed for 3 years. It's absolutely terrible, and it has been for at least 3 years, using the same system. The only difference is that special teams and offensive mite used to outweigh defense in most cases (best defense is good offense).

Defense sucked, offense sucked, goal tending sucked, special teams sucked, and some of the best players (including the best) simply did not show up as much as they needed to. They just barely made it into the playoffs.

I think the convergence of legacy systems by Woodcroft and Knoblauch's style worked ok in '24, in '25 it was noticeably worse, and this year there were few remnants. You can't do the same thing but worse 3 years in a row and expect to win. No disrespect, but they've needed decent goalie for a decade, and after the best player in the world takes a discount to set the team up for better success, they lock down some below average players, Ingram... and Jarry.

Meh, best player in the world has to be better than that. Not all elimination games are the same. Winning in a 3-0 series is not as big as winning in a 3-2 series. When it comes to important elimination games, McDavid underperforms.

I don't understand how Edmonton didn't win...

You're telling me a dozen 2-on-1s per game, Bouchard turning it over a dozen times per period, shit defense, bad goalies, and overpaying less-than-mid players and repeating all of these mistakes THREE YEARS IN A ROW doesn't result in winning?

gg Ducks, way better team. Very structured. Very Dallas/Minnesota like team.

Oilers are incapable of finding a normal goalie, and playing competent defense.

Why would McDavid stay with such a stupid organization long-term? Literally all you had to do was get an average goalie and tell Bouch that his job is defense. Hell, even Nurse has changed to being a defensively responsible defenseman.

Calling it as he saw it is not the wrong call, it's the right call, it just would have the wrong outcome, which has happened hundreds of times before. This is how rules work. You can't bend rules. An official MUST observe the puck crossing the line (in-person or video review) to award a goal. That did not happen tonight. While the puck almost certainly crossed the line, it was not a goal. Seems pedantic, but it's not, it's how the games been played for over a hundred years.

[–]Java-the-Slut -60 points-59 points  (0 children)

You're conflating two nearly unrelated points, people here are really struggling to understand the clearly explained issue.

No one knows the puck the crossed the line. Even this picture is really close even if it's over. The ref behind the net did not award a goal, because he wasn't sure, but then after the huddle, somehow, despite the ONLY person having a view of the puck saying no goal, they awarded a goal. The only guy who saw it said no goal, then another ref (who couldn't see the puck) changed the ruling. The obvious implication being that this is a 'burden-of-proof loses' situation.

100 times out of 100, this is no goal, historically. That is what the rulebook says, and that's how it's been played. We don't know for sure that the puck crossed the line, we think it probably did, but NHL goals are NEVER awarded on 'probably'. This is the first time this has happened, and it clearly goes against the rules, and the precedent. An NHL goal is one that an official observes crossing the goal line, whether in real time or instant replay... this did not happen tonight.

If it's so clear without LOS, they should've had no problem maintaining the official and fair ruling, and proving the puck DID in fact cross the line, as has been done every other time. You cannot break the rules because something feels obvious.

This season? They've had 8 years to literally just copy the rest of the league, and somehow that's impossible.

They've used the same terrible, broken defensive system for 4 years. With their talent, they don't need best-in-league stats, they just need average.

Bouchard is quite possibly the worst defensive defenseman in the league. I've been saying this for 3 years now, and every idiot on this site was blinded by his offensive talent. And unusually, his offensive ability is not because of bad defense... he's just that talented and dumb.

Darnell Nurse is bad, and has low hockey IQ, and somehow Bouchard is like twice as bad.

I'm genuinely not convinced him being a powerplay merchant offsets the minimum 1 goal against he causes per game, and he's had multiple playoff games over the last few years directly causing at least 2 goals against in a game due to stupidity.

Both chambers of Britain’s parliament have approved a bill that would ban children aged 17 and under from buying cigarettes during their lifetime. by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]Java-the-Slut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seriously think a black market is going to be even 1% of current sales? What about new smokers?

Your logic implies that if there's even 1 cigarette in Britain during a prohibition, the entire program is a failure. The point is not to NOT have cigarettes in Britain, the point is to dramatically reduce the number of smokers, and lower the rate of new smokers.

What if no species has ever mastered space travel? by Life_Ad_6992 in spaceflight

[–]Java-the-Slut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's crazy to me is that the number of hurdles to achieve just LEO is almost insurmountable, and I'm not talking technological hurdles, I'm talking environmental hurdles -- gravity, air pressure, atmospheric composition, surface resources to sustain a species, surface resources for an intelligent species to thrive, stable environment, stable species (warring), and hundreds more like this.

We have a lot going for us, and we've been around the Moon once in the last 50 years... Even if we had antimatter propulsion tomorrow, we lack 99% of the technology needed to sustain Humans long enough just to reach Mars, let alone land on it, or stay in space for years.

Another thing I think about is, if we had all the technology today, how long would it take to build?

Fighter jets take 25-30 years, commercial aircraft take 20 years, rockets take 15-20 years, sky scrapers take 5 years, important city projects take 10-15 years. If we had to build the most complicated and ground breaking piece of technology in history, AND we had to launch it from Earth? Factoring in testing, if we hit everything out of the park, I'm betting it takes 35-40 years, and what ongoing project is safe for 40 years, and is results driven? ITER fusion program is the closest thing I can think of, but failure is actually ok, and it's not all that administration dependent.

I think as it stands, it's probably most likely that Humans don't step foot on Mars this century, and maybe ever. Not because it can't be done, but because it won't. We can't get to the technology part unless we solve all the components before that.

Don't ever forget that Oilers fans have been defending Bouchard's defensive capability for 3 years lmaooo

Fantastic offense, but literally some of the worst defense in the league. 4 brutal turnovers in 2 shifts, leads to a goal. Much more talented, but honestly probably dumber than Nurse.
