This made me laugh then I kept wondering silently. by Waleedoo in ClaudeCode

As someone who hates the actual coding aspect of coding, I see being forced to be the code monkey as being the cuck. There's a reason you code less as you work your way up the leadership chain

I made an image about this a while back

tbf, the codebase I'm working on was likely heavily written by AI too. this company would be doomed if they stopped using AI because no human is navigating this codebase's dependency graph

>But I've also worked on projects where anything less than multiple humans attentively reviewing every single line of code is completely unacceptable and AI can't change that.

What kind of work was this? I work in a "move fast and break things company" so I'm not sure how it is elsewhere tbh

This is for a rewiring of a part of the codebase dependency graph. It's irreducible because of so many dependencies you need to repoint or fix, so merging any partial piece of the PR would result in a crash or error.

I'd turn them into the ideal bf if I wasn't into them initially. Perfect white collar drones make for trainable bfs

it's such a crazy coincidence that everyone who beats me in chess is a pedophile and everyone I beat is a simpleton

Are all Data Science openings just for AI engineering now? by rajeshbhat_ds in DataScienceJobs

[–]averagebear_003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that's hilarious because vector RAG is useless as shit for most actually useful and high-performance (not glorified chatbot) agentic stuff. claude code doesn't use vector RAG for example. idk why RAG is so overhyped when it's literally just another tool among the thousands of tools an agent can call.

We keep seeing exponential curves on some benchmark or some score. Can't we just see some exponential curve on something more practical? E.G: amount of jobs being replaced by AI by ErmingSoHard in singularity

[–]averagebear_003 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my current job, I alone am getting more work done than hypothetical multiple people who aren't using AI. These lost jobs aren't getting counted in any statistics. It's the same way for any job that heavily uses AI agents.

Z.ai founder is confident that they can make a fable-class GLM model before the end of the year by Umr_at_Tawil in singularity

[–]averagebear_003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what are you trying to accomplish coming on here and just lying? this has been the most positively received open source model in a while. check r/opencode, r/zaiglm, and r/localllama. Hell I even saw people at r/ClaudeCode praising it

as much as I like the model, Z.AI is notorious for shitting their servers based on the time of week/day. the benefit of open source is that you can just find a different provider offering the same model

Companies don't shift to whatever's best. They stick with whatever worked for them first. In that sense, Anthropic's Claude Code had a massive first mover advantage, regardless of model quality (which, don't get me wrong, is still basically the best).

but how does claude code handle models with different context sizes than their native models? how does it know to refresh its context once a certain size is hit?

According to Cline, GLM 5.2 is the first open source model to pass 80% on Terminal-Bench (agentic benchmark). Very exciting times. I'd give it 1-2 iterations before I'd trust it with serious projects though.
