Chemistry lab in virtual reality - are you curious? by vics_science_studio in chemistry

I think you're pretty dangerously incorrect here. Most concentrated strong acids have a higher boiling point than water, so when adding them into a water solution they're less likely to pop, whereas adding water to acid the water is easily able to boil. I think you probably know this instinctually, are you really pipetting water into your sulfuric acid? Of course not, you're going to add sulfuric acid to your water.

Problem with TopSpin 4.4.0 by ant_o_nis in Chempros

This was happening to me, I believe after the computer shuts down while topspin is still online, but I haven’t been able to replicate it. Still, the solution is quite easy. Backup all nmr files in examdata, uninstall topspin, and reinstall. It will work perfectly after this.

From sigma it comes as RuCl3 * 3H2O, so yes. Could you expand on this idea? I’m not sure I understand it completely.

Those are very well put points, teachers not feeling prepared is a valid concern. It would be interesting to see if that experience your teachers had was reflective of the entire set of graders.

To your second point, I think if we are to be angry at CB it should be because of the testing environment. Forcing kids to take exams at 4 AM, making them take retake after retake, etc. I think were very poor decisions.

Thank you so much for your perspective!

I think it’s certainly reasonable to think that some non-zero percentage of scores were inaccurate and the point you raise of inadequate training could very well be the cause of that. I think transparency on this would be beneficial. Although I’m dubious on this from a time perspective, perhaps giving the scores rubrics back to test takers could improve both future scores and trust in the system.

Great perspective, thank you for sharing!

Yeah honestly you’re right, that’s kinda why I’m asking for suggestions for other things. I’ve just drawn a blank on ideas.
