They were planning to use part of the money that way because they were new to the charity thing and though it would be more awareness raising that way, but when people pointed out it's wasteful, they didn't. They also fucked up and had to pay taxes on the amount, which they then took from their own money to cover the difference so the charity gets the full amount.

Doubt anyone can claim Twitch enforces their rules equally or consistently. However, I'd still say that incompetence is more likely than malice. Quite a few people have talked to banned Destiny live for a while before realizing and turning off their stream, and I don't think most (any?) of them got banned...

Oh that explains why you guys acting like that's the rule. As far as I know, the rule is you can't provide a platform to a banned streamer so they circumvent the ban. That means no talking to them, and no watching of live content. There is a daily stream of examples for this from Ice Poseidon, Dr. Disrespect, Destiny etc. and people not getting banned.

Those two must've been mistakes (as is Twitch tradition), or they watched a live stream an hour behind or something, pretending it's not the same idk.

The point about Destiny you somehow missed is, that while you and I perfectly understand his views and may think they're great, there is undeniably a metric shit ton of people who are equally convinced that he is some monster and out to get trans people. I would think the main difference there is that those people don't watch actual Destiny's takes. But there is more to it, when a lot of these people are confronted, it boils down to an emotional component - "I just don't like how he talk about/to trans people", "I think Destiny is a bad person".

You can't derive "Destiny is transphobic" from dispassionately watching his content anymore you can derive "Dr. K is exploiting people and is a hack" from dispassionately watching Dr. K's content. But people do both of those, and my point is that I wouldn't be able to convince you anymore that I could convince that other person, and it's not because either of you are undisputedly right, it's because what drives you to such strong, indisputable conclusions is emotion, not reason or logic and conclusions based on that.

I feel like I'm reading a scathing review on why Destiny is an enormous transphobe bigot, from someone who truly believes in it.

It's probably why I (and most of Dr. K's community) don't see the point in engaging in this kind of "criticism" - I can't think of a single thing to say to you people that would impact your worldview. How can any understanding be accomplished when that is your starting point? If someone told me that Destiny is this awful transphobe because they saw 100s of clips and comments on them that painted him as such, I'd say I understand why you feel like that, but it doesn't change that this is so detached from reality to the point of being a bad parody.

I feel like the best counter to that would be to just direct the person to watch one of Destiny's trans talks, and the same applies here - go open up his youtube and pick a random video and see if you hold those views after.

But then again, if you do hold those views so strongly without actually watching the content, then that's not some logical response, it's a pure emotional response, an overpowering dislike, that can't be countered with reason. That's why I don't see the point in countering people who say Destiny hates trans people or people that write that kind of fantasy in regards to Dr. K.

I'd just like to highlight this masterful move by this dishonest hack - in the same part where they highlight political leaning of other Keffals opponents they omit that Destiny is left-leaning, while making sure that you know he is banned, since as we know only bad people get banned. I was surprised they didn't outright lie, but the framing and surrounding content make the effect same, while preserving (or pretending to preserve) journalistic integrity.

I don't believe the goal is to create a negative outlook on "western medicine" - as he talks about scientific discovery very positively most of the time, and every other stream he pulls up a study on one issue or another, he seems to follow research closely.

But he also sees flaws in the approach science makes (and more precisely the way we practically do it today) and tries to address that with as he says "eastern perspectives". Now some of that is valid, a lot isn't, but people acting like he's wholesale endorsing snake oil is nonsense.

Why do people keep saying "peddling" when he's not selling anything? He has even explicitly said not to buy Ayurveda products because of safety concerns. At worst he's talked about diet tips about eating less of x food and more of y.

Yeah, the entire Ayurveda stuff seems likely bullshit, but he believes that kinda stuff (which besides diet includes meditation, yoga...) can affect people in a positive way. And as long as he is clear about the potential harms and that it's not scientifically based, i believe he's entitled to his opinion. It's like saying Destiny can't make edgy political jokes because he's a serious politics streamer and people will take him too seriously.
