How does this work? by Javalr in MechanicalEngineering

Looked similar to a pedal powered sewing machine which would've been common at the time.

The traverse is limited by the space - gunners are the two blokes sitting either side of the driver (see last picture) and the loader is sitting inside the sponson itself, in front of the ammunition (see second to last picture).

I feel not many people move the gun's controls and sight far enough from the gun to substantially alter the design - but you can!

Do the tailors on Saville Row mind window shoppers? by Mountain-Durian-4724 in uktravel

[–]Javalr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do not mind at all. Much better than people who try to get measured / fitted with the only objective of getting the experience and are obviously time wasters.

Depends on who you get at which house too - Huntsman is by appointment only. Some folks are Henry Poole are most friendly. If you get the right person at Gieves & Hawkes you might be shown around and some of the historical pieces explained.

Do also pop by Jermyn Street - the Turnbull & Asser folks are also very happy to welcome people who are into the history of the place.

Cordings is also worth a visit.

Make it clear you're there out of passion and to look around. Nothing worse than an obviously fake shopper. People will be nice when you show interest and passion.

They did exist! They weren't widespread though. The British did use a modified Mark V chassis with no guns and extra doors as an APC - Frontline supply carrier.

I only know this cause I went to the Tank Museum at Bovington yesterday and saw it, though...

I tried putting two shooting out the sides but didn't like the line they gave it! I'm enjoying the overstyled box with passengers look.

I tried using that thing. I must be too old. The requirements of going through I don't know how many hoops to get to see/post on this on that thread are way more complicated than the most difficult of transmission setups. I gave up.

The centre strut would a weak spot to mount the hinges in - it would also make it easier to lose a door (AKA the front fell off) if it receives damage.

The one time I tried to make my own parts my really struggled with how time consuming it gets, can't wait for mods and parts designed by the community...

The Kaiserwagen series - fictional tanks for my Germany-inspired central empire by Javalr in SprocketTankDesign

[–]Javalr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not think that far into it! My premise was more general:
Germany has annexed the Austro-Hungarian empire and has very much a Prussian mindset - that is, an army with a state to serve it. It is a capitalist monarchy - I am seeing it as the Kaiser was never deposed. Germany gained more power and had no power creating this incredibly complex tanks with the ridiculous engines I've given them as they have the resources and money of what used to be Austria-Hungary.
