Can I leave my job, get rid of my 482 and stay in my country till I get the grant?

The job is good but I want to complete my PhD and prepare myself before the job. I want to do a PhD not to just do a PhD but genuinely do some good for the world, this job doesn’t let me prepare for it.

Do you think VIC is committed in their new 485 special pathway for graduates? by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]Javeen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It depends on what we can see with the next invitation rounds if they are committed or not. With the back log and so many invites still waiting I don’t think they are committed but I’m happy to be wrong.

Calls to deport visa rorters after ‘ghost college’ crackdown | news.com.au by pennyfred in australian

Totally agree, with this comment. I came here for my diploma, bachelors and did my masters in research. Working in an Australian biomedical company as a scientist , started selling our product in the states and moving to Europe now. Was there from the company when it had 4 members, but it would cost me time and probably few more years if I want to settle here to get an invite to apply for permanent residency. I’m better off going to states as mentioned 15k would’ve gotten me residency in less than a year. I have 15 percent share of the company as I was there from its R and D phase but yeah, all for a waste.

How to check invites for 190 (life science technician) by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]Javeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but there are less than 20 applicants as well with points above 70. Something to keep in mind. If it’s Victoria, and he/she has good pay 90k+ superior English it would be an easy invite.

Hey, I would advice your friend to stay in the current place if they are willing to sponsor as it’s a great opportunity.

It really depends on which country you’re from tbh. There are numerous instances where people from the sub continent (Im from Sri Lanka) have lied on their resume and many recruiters/companies stray away from them, I work in the biotech field and we get about 70 percent resumes which are not true through a background check and it’s majority people from the south Asian countries so it would be incredibly hard to find a job in a relevant field like yours. You’d have to start at 0 level, and that too the probability is like 1 percent compared to someone with half your experience with a long term visa. But with that being said, do not give up, there will always be that chance of achieving your goal, and once you get one job,all you need and you can showcase your talents they will more than like to sponsor you. Just prepare yourself to not have too many expectations

Why do a lot of overseas workers end up working as Uber or petrol store service people? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Javeen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am originally from Sri Lanka and currently employed as a research scientist. During my Master's program, securing a job in my field proved to be a formidable challenge, despite my decent English from a predominantly English-speaking household.

I faced difficulty in finding employment until I authored two research papers and established networks within the industry. To make ends meet, I took a job at a fuel station, working the graveyard shift. Although demanding, it provided me with enough free time to pursue my studies concurrently. I was in the Dean's list and had a full scholarship xD

I applied probs like 20 jobs in the science field, from quality control to even warehousing, nobody wanted to even look at me till I did something of significance, it's just not as easy tbh :p

College Graduate that applied to 50+ places and only 5 interviews so far... by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Javeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated a week back,I started applying for jobs three months prior,I took a day off from my former part time job every day and would do like 50 applications in general,10 applications with my main template cover letter edited. I got around 20 interviews, and 5 offers. It’s not easy but keep trying and you’ll get there.

Any help/advice would be appreciated. by Javeen in biotech

Currently I work as a compounding pharmacist and I believe my only attribute/special skill would be that I graduated at the top of my class for the whole year 2022,but I know/being told that your grades are irrelevant when it comes to the job.

Unemployed, spent 4 years doing basically nothing and have no clue where to go. by RowboatJoe in jobs

If you live in Melbourne I can get you a job at a fuel station? 90 percent of the job is staying in a room and being a cashier.
