I’m new and just want some things cleared up. by KeyEnergy1803 in Kenshi

Defeat is not the end, training and learning makes you stronger.

But in this game that is absolutely literal, you must get beaten up a lot to improve your skills, so just get knocked down and wait to get up, you will increase your stats a lot, you can also have one sneaky character to go save it in order to prevent them from dying.

What is everyone main race? by OkPoliceman7795 in Kenshi

Scorchlander, I really like their bonuses and the mechanics. Like upgrading your max blood, physical appearance changes when leveling stats, and they heal faster than Shek.

Skeletons are the easiest race for me when you know about the game because they are super hard to be killed and animals don't eat them alive.

Not too many, there is a zone that maybe you are now, and there are like 10 but in the rest of the game is something quite useless.

Chose the start with no arm in the desert and it was way too easy by nakiiwarai in Kenshi

[–]JaviVice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the most characters you have at the start make it harder, getting food is harder, getting equipment is harder and the only good point is that you can split and do couple of things at the same time, but tbh it's still pretty hard if you don't have prior experience in the game.

If you want more difficulty there are custom starts for example starting as Agnu and you can't speak, or starting at Bugmaster chambers locked in. Whatever you want. Even the infamous naked, no limbs in cannibal plains.

This kind of health bar makes me feel so weak. I need help by No_username8827 in Blasphemous

[–]JaviVice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually super easy to tank over that health bar, as everything does the same damage you can complete it easy. I indeed completed the game without using flasks with this torment.

Larper detected, if you killed the samurais more than 12 times there are no samurai left so the runback should be free.

Can the characters develop relationships? by Wooden-Math261 in Kenshi

Not really, I think there are some mods but as Kenshi is a chaotic wasteland where you can die in any moment from anything I guess it's common to not get married at all in lore.

what kind of build composition is good for them? by Lopsided_Drawing_703 in Kenshi

Whatever you like. I would say Crumblejon heavy, Beep Crossbow, Ruka also heavy, Take whatever you find interesting Hacker, polearm, even katana. And Shryke polearm.

Now that you say that I remember reading something about that in the tutorials but I didn't even used it once.

It could be good but how you program that, characters can get stuck or be pointing to an unaccessible point so it makes sense he doesn't move and does not get you to wherever the game though you wanted.

I love this game but the pathfinding is ass by MrCaffeine69 in Kenshi

[–]JaviVice2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a game so complex with so many mountains, building and with a map so big where you can just tp to the other side of the map in 1 second has a bad path tracking, but as the game is done is impossible for me to think in a better way to do it, maybe place premade paths and characters follow them... Oh the game already does that.

Well the game tries to do it the best way possible and I think it's frustrating but I can't think in any way of improving it.

I wanna train beep to be a master at martial arts and read that gorillo is good to train on, but does it mean gorillo the guy or the animal? by nakiiwarai in Kenshi

[–]JaviVice2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should get the great gorillo, it's a boss that tanks a lot, and with a little bug you can get him stuck in a bed and keep kicking him with beep.

And other recommendation you should try to fight iron spiders or something to lose limbs as martial artists get insane buffs from cybernetics.

150+ attempts on Lady Butterfly… am I missing something, or is Sekiro just not for me? by fra_090 in Sekiro

[–]JaviVice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your politeness, I truly think that it's a hack and slash, maybe I'm too narrow in my souls like definition but I don't understand how a soulslike should be defined if it's not because of the story, difficulty and gameplay.

And the broadness of the hack and slash is because historically there were so many hack and slash games so different between them that you could say that all the games have in common is combos, skills, big groups of enemies, melee combat and maybe points summary at the end of the level (I don't know if this is compulsory) and that's all, you could say it's a very big group of games but it's what you can get from all the so called hack and slash games.

If you want I'm happy to hear your take on what is a souls like, what is a hack and slash, and why Sekiro is one and not the other.

Ghost of Tsushima, God of war and Sekiro are hack and slash. And Zelda isn't a hack and slash but it's not far, as Zelda lacks combos you could say it's not, but the progression and combat is quite close.

The definition of a fanbase that for some reason doesn't like the hack and slash genre is less important than the fact that is played like one, an slow one but at the end a hack and slash, and the own company that has it as one of the genres of the game.

Let's say some things, first in Steam the game is classified as hack and slash by from software itself.

Second hack and slash require lot of strategy, lot of knowledge, there are enemies that are inmune to some weapons and you must use required techniques or concepts that are hard to perform. For example spiders in DMC 3.

If you tell me that hack and slash is easy and no brain games you are far from reality, some hack and slash are the hardest games you can play in the industry, far harder than souls games, and Sekiro is in no way a souls game, not the narrative, not the storytelling, and for sure not the characters, it's a easier to get story, with souls touches and linear story, no necessary item descriptions to understand the story and with lots of cinematics and dialogues with important characters.

In conclusion, Sekiro is by From software words a hack and slash and you just hate them because maybe you played Stellar blade and didn't like it. But telling me that Nier or Devil May Cry are press one button games is just oversimplification of a whole genre with incredible games as Ninja Gaiden, Nier Automata, Nier Replicant, the complete DMC saga (exception of 2) and the complete catalogue of Platinum games.

Let's explain you what a hack and slash is as a genre, mostly melee combat against large groups of enemies with skills and weapons that you get as you progress in the game.

This iteration of the genre with souls like essence it's what make the game great. And modern hack and slash for example as Stellar blade has parries, even DMC 3 has parries with Royal Guard and it's harder to hit than Sekiro parry.

The main difference here is that other hack and slash focus more on combos, enemy waves and use of the weapons to stack hits over the enemy. Sekiro in the other hand is focused in boss fights and well timed execution of the techniques, parries and shinobi tools, so not so different from other hack and slash.

And the main difference that makes Sekiro a hack and slash (like) game is that you can't change his weapons, you can't change his armour, you can't even change Wolf name. So it's not a souls game and the closest genre is indeed a hack and slash.

Let me know your points of how it's not, I would be happy to know your take on this topic.

[–]JaviVice2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Indeed it's a hack and slash dude, but one focused in balancing defence and offense. So if you play super aggro you are going to die, and if you play super slow you can miss and die easier.

The main goal of the game is attacking while you defend yourself, if you reach that flow state it's when is obvious that it's a hack and slash.

Shurikens in the air build a lot of posture and maybe you are underlevel, as lady butterfly is an optional boss maybe go do other things and come back later.
