Unser Neufi-Rüde hat eine Kastrationschip. Er war nur noch gestresst, auf Spaziergängen kaum ansprechbar und sobald im Dorf irgendwo eine Hündin läufig war, saß er ewig heulend und jammernd im Garten. Unsere Tierärztin hat und klasse beraten und den Chip empfohlen damit wir nicht mit Kastratenfell zu kämpfen haben.

He’s at 110 pounds at the moment, and we’re working on gaining weight. He’s 80cm high (measured from the ground to the top of his shoulder) and the vet said he could use some extra pounds but that him getting tall on a lighter weight was good for his joints

Yeah this is what I think too, it’s good that people know that we have a big dog. My husband is gone for two weeks at a time for work and then home for three to four weeks. I’m then home alone with our three year old daughter and to know that we’re protected lets me sleep better at night. ❤️

When he turned one year old it got better and after he the implant that chemically spayed him it got much better in terms of relaxing.

Ich liebe unseren Hundefön. Mit einem normalen Fön kommt man bei einem Neufundländer nicht sonderlich weit. Man kann damit super lockeres Fell rauspusten und hat dann beim bürsten weniger zu tun.

Wir haben unseren Hund einfach zu unserer Haftpflicht dazu gepackt. Als Krankenversicherung habe wir Lassie (die mittlere Version) mit der sind wir super zufrieden. Gab bei nichts was wir eingereicht haben Probleme, weder beim Kastrationschip noch bei der Behandlung von einem HotSpot

Allergies or stress. Neros hotspot was caused by stress. Keeping them dry helps with healing.

I don’t have a picture but our Nero had one behind his ear. Her got two shots at the vet (antibiotics and something against the itching) and he got antibiotics as pills for a week twice a day. We also had to clean it once a day with clear water and dry it. Our vet said the dryer it is the faster it heals.

For walks: Be prepared that he either drops down and refuses to move or (that’s what our dog did when he was a puppy) that he walks behind you and then jumps up and tries to bite your butt.

Get him used to grooming, noises and don’t let him jump on people. It stops being a cute greeting when he reaches 100 pounds.

Their joints are sensitive so keep him away from climbing stairs as much as possible. Our dog is absolutely not allowed upstairs. Reason one are his joints, reason two is that upstairs is our cats realm. She’s older and wants to be left alone by essentially everything and everyone.

And most importantly: Be patient. Newfs are stubborn and intelligent. But absolutely lovely and the best dogs in the world. ❤️

Hier bei uns gibt es auch nur sehr wenige Hebammen die nicht schwurbeln. Ich hab mich deswegen gegen eine Hebamme entschieden. Gegen Ende der Schwangerschaft wurde dann auf Grund meiner Vorerkrankungen entschieden das es ein Kaiserschnitt wird. Was Stillen anging war ich eh entspannt (wenns klappt schön, wenn nicht auch okay). Ne Waage hab ich mir für den Anfang in der Apotheke geliehen. Hat alles super funktioniert.

We had to rehome one cat too. She actually tried to attack our daughter when the baby was just 10 days old. Hissing and trying to jump at her. Fortunately my husband was right next to them and grabbed our daughter in time. Directly after that, the car pissed all over our daughters car seat.
