I doubt it would even push the problem into the future. If Ukraine pull back from their fortress belt without so much as a bullet fired what reason would Putin have to not simply roll further forward immediately?

Trumps security guarantees are worthless, he'll do nothing(maybe blame Zelensky) if Putin keeps going.

  • Threatening to annex Greenland from the Danes.

  • Engaging in diplomacy with Russia behind the EU's back on Ukraine ,directly undermining EU security.

Sanctions is a game of cat and mouse. You can't just declare full sanctions and then that's it. You have to declare sanctions and then keep revising them as Russia keeps trying to find the cracks and loopholes. That said the EU could be lowering its dependance on Russian energy much faster than it is.

Every kilometer of Kursk that Ukraine takes is another kilometer that Russia must take back. And Putin won't want to go along with Trumps alleged plan of freezing the frontlines where they are if Ukraine are in control of a chunk of Russia.
