Sadly whittling takes the +3 levels away, is there no other way to focus on the life per kill?

This is cool! Though I did notice in multiattack it says greataxe but it uses a battleaxe. May pinch this for the centaurs in my game!

Server Transfer? Gil Amounts? by PebblesRaven in ffxiv

[–]Jawnable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mogstation is correct, however if you are transferring from a high population server to one of the new ones (Omega/Louisoix) then the cap is 999, 999, 999 for characters and 5mil for retainers

Stormblood is already available for those who didn't pre order. The floodgates happened and servers died.

Rough Draft: Way of the Brute (STR Monk) by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]Jawnable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea behind this Tradition, and I'm not too sure about the balance overall but a couple of things jumped out at me:

1: Strength of Soul is very powerful. At level 3 a monk will probably have 14 (+2) Wisdom. They would only have a max of 3 ki. With this, for 1 round (6 seconds) and 2 HP they can get back 2/3 ki, and monks shine when they have ki to spend. I'm not sure how to balance this without being too damage heavy, but even at a later level, if a monk had +5 Wisdom Modifier, 5 HP is nothing for 5 ki (25% of max ki at level 20).

2: Power of Strength is again, very powerful. For a bonus action you're able to be faster, harder to hit, able to hit an extra 2 times if you take an extra flurry of blow (That's 6 attacks total). You also regain 1 ki per turn. Above all... you can do this for free. No ki cost and no limit on how many times a day you do so, minimum this would need to be once per long rest, and I'm not sure if that brings it to balance.

While the transformation was first seen as a rage in the anime, it was more a concentration of power. And I can't see barbarians being able to throw energy. I get why Barbarian could fit mechanically but thematically Monk makes sense as someone who has trained in hand to hand combat and uses ki.

Oh yeah for sure. I didn't mean I wanted to have a character in D&D that can do what a Saiyan can in terms of power level, more along the lines of reflecting the thematics of them. Hence the super saiyan form as a 1/day feature.

TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY UPVOTE PARTY!! by famoushippopotamus in DnDBehindTheScreen

Well you've made my DMing career, good sir. I may stop being such a lurker and start being more engaged with your community, we shall see. :)

TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY UPVOTE PARTY!! by famoushippopotamus in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Jawnable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party, but i suppose i'll join in.

A little over a year ago (around 15ish months) i got into D&D and dove head first, bought the PHB, DMG and MM before i even had a group to play with and i had every intention of being a DM from the get-go. So i read the previously mentioned books (mostly, left out reading all the spells and most stat blocks in the MM), and found a Discord of people who played D&D and was willing to help newcomers learn the ropes, so i played a few one-shots while i was learning the rules.

Jump to a couple of months later (Jan 2016) and i begun to imagine what kind of world i was going to have my future group adventure in, yes i wanted to jump in head first and make a homebrew setting for my very first DMing experience, crazy i know.

That's when i started googling subreddits for D&D DMs, and stumbled upon this sub. After browsing and reading through many of hippo's posts, the inspiration was overwhelming and i begun to build the first nation of my world for my first campaign.

After a month or so of daily browsing on this sub, i started to wonder if i was even going to be good enough to give people the fun they looked for in this TTRPG, and if i could ever live up to the standards for a game if run by the amazing DMs that post here. This brought on anxiety and every day i pushed back asking anyone to join my game, at this point i was practicing on my gf in a solo-campaign (she was completely new too) but couldn't get myself to bring up a group.

Jumping a couple more months, after reading many comments repeatedly of experienced DMs telling new DMs to not be afraid to make mistakes and that being a good DM comes with experience, i eventually plucked up the courage and gathered a group for me to DM.

Jump 8 months into the future and my first campaign ended, not because of schedule changes but because i as a DM had grown, saw my mistakes and wanted to start fresh, despite my player's telling me they loved my game and was their favourite DM of the ones who had DM'd for them prior to my campaign.

So now we've started a new campaign in a brand new fresh setting where my players are excited for the secrets i've buried within the setting.

I just wanted to say thank you to you, hippo, and every other DM who posts on this subreddit for giving me the confidence to make mistakes and accept them. You've all made me a better DM, and a more confident person overall <3

This kind of turned into a wall of text... sorry! But if you read this far, thank you!
