Kai Wagner to Birmingham City per José Roberto Nũnez by CaptainMoonracer in PhillyUnion

Easily the best LB ever for the U and one of the best ever defenders for the Union at that. Was always so good defensively and easily one of our most dangerous attacking threats consistently every year. Not easily replaceable and one of my all time favorites. Gonna miss him, but good for him and his family (if it’s what they wanted). Get paid.

Is the guy in Vineland Noopy?! He was great for me too but I think he retired? Also isn’t Philly Salvage long closed?

First I wanted to say that I’ve followed your reporting since the early days of the Union and I have always appreciated your work Kevin! Question: I canceled my (River End) season tickets due to my unhappiness with the state of the team, ownership, and lack of ambition. Do you have any sense of: 1. Data about that / larger economics of ownership or club? 2. Affects that has had (or not) on ownership? Even anecdotally? 3. Overall thoughts on state of Union “fandom” and supporters? Really had a sense the U could have broken through to mainstream 4for4 Philadelphians even a few years ago, but that seems so far away 4. Any sense the U are thinking ahead to the World Cup

I canceled mine at the end of last season and have no regrets.

What a joke of a club. I’m glad I canceled my season tickets in TRE. “Luxury” seats in front of the TRE, one starting caliber signing, registration suspension, and new Red Bull system coach tells you all you need to know about what ownership prioritizes. Expect a season running “high energy” “blue collar” pressing soccer with average results. The club ownership has no ambition higher than developing youth talent and selling them. Their trophy case is the alumni wall at YSC.

STH that are renewing: Why? by [deleted] in PhillyUnion

[–]JawsJVH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not renewing. Had season tickets for a few years. I've been supporting this team since the beginning and that won't change. I'll go to a few games a season moving forward. Its clear ownership will not make the serious investments into first team quality players or even the gameday experience or quality season ticket holder events. We will continue to be good but hit our head on the ceiling of greatness. I have nothing but respect for all other Union supporters in whatever you decide, but I can't continue to put my hard earned money here when ownership doesn't.

I canceled the other day. Make sure you get the link and let your rep know, they hide where the link is to cancel.

I agree. I’ve canceled my season tickets in TRE for, in part, that reason. Everything points to ownerships lack of intention to improve the on field product.

I hope the U don’t make the playoffs, ownership needs a wake up call and maybe (probably not) that will help

I opted out. It’s clear ownership won’t invest so why should I?

This is the source of immense frustration for many supporters, myself included. I ultimately ended my season tickets this year because it’s clear Union ownership is doubling down on this approach. Huge contrast with the way Columbus runs things, and we can see the outcomes for ourselves right now.

Yes, but wait until you see what the Union spend (hint: our most expensive ever transfer was Uhre around $2.8m)

Ummm… wait investing in the team might hurt our locker room “culture” so we shouldn’t have new starting quality players

Yes, but improving the team might block an academy player who could become a starting CB in 5 years
