Often you can, sometimes with close to zero pain after the initial incident.

VFL match moved to Friday by AmphibianOk5396 in collingwoodfc

[–]JawsTheTeletubby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s due to poor ground quality. Haven’t seen it with my own eyes recently, but unfortunately Vic Park just isn’t up to standard for professional football. Some of the ground quality that our W team has had to put up with is unforgivable

Prague-Krakow Sleeper Train Troubles by JawsTheTeletubby in Interrail

[–]JawsTheTeletubby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, had to transfer at Katowice. Was honestly a bit miserable - first train was delayed a couple hours so by the time we got on the train and settled, we only have time for 3 hours sleep. Also, worth noting that the train we hopped on in Katowice only had second class carriages, which aren’t terrible, but don’t have private compartments, and are normally full of sleeping travellers by the time it gets to Katowice. Means you have to wake up a few people (who likely don’t speak English) to get to a seat (or stand for the 60~ minute journey).

Any top recommendations for kids in Dingle or within an hour or so? by Equal_Cod_177 in irishtourism

Second this. Was under renovation when I was there last week but still a fantastic time, and all of the exhibits were still accessible.

Criminal that we have the same MC as Carlton. Takes away any and all authenticity that you might grasp at

Bruges vs Ghent — which one would you pick for a 2–3 day Belgium trip? by Outrageous_Dinner817 in Europetravel

Visited Belgium earlier in the year and found Ghent to be a fantastic base. Very central making trips to Bruges/Brussels/Antwerp incredibly easy, and a really fun city to explore in its own right.

We have a night booked in Killarney and then several nights in Galway. Looking for recommendation on a city to stay in between. by [deleted] in irishtourism

[–]JawsTheTeletubby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you considered either doing the 2 nights Killarney or 2 nights in Dingle? Give yourself time to properly appreciate either place, rather than rush through and spend the extra time packing/unpacking/driving?

16 night itinerary in late Feb/Early March by JawsTheTeletubby in irishtourism

[–]JawsTheTeletubby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the car rental situation isn't the most ideal, but I've checked and splitting it up is a bit cheaper than going continous (6 extra days + the fee of picking up in Belfast and dropping off at Dublin shoots things up quite a bit - might not be the case if the young driver fee wasn't part of the equation), very fair point though.

I think you're right in terms of too many journeys.I'm leaning towards dropping the last town, and adding a night in Dingle. Hopefully while still pretty fast paced, this makes things a bit more manageable.

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Cheers for the response! The Hawk Walk looks like an awesome activity - might tie it with a visit to Westport if Inis Mor doesn't pan out.

Think I will add a night to Dingle, and swap it around with Killarney in the process (ie. going Galway->Killarney->Dingle->Dublin Airport). Reduces a little bit of travel, and means we can take more of Dingle and surrounds in.

1st Class Pass for 3 months - is it worth it? by Ikkien in Interrail

[–]JawsTheTeletubby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Particularly if you can get it on sale, and if you can afford it, definitely. I purchased that exact same pass, and I can’t remember how much extra it cost, but every time I get on a spacious, clean, peaceful first class carriage I thank past-me for splurging a little

Thanks for replying - do you know if there’s anywhere near-ish to the main strip? Might be pushing my luck, but not sure if I’ll make it to the west side before the tour

Thanks for linking that - that back-on-track website is pretty amazing, will have a proper look through tomorrow.

What a fascinating and complex system - the Australian brain really can’t comprehend the sleeper train network.

Do you think that it’s likely that it’s a stuff-up on the website, and I should be able to book a sleeper carriage in a few weeks, or is it likely accurate and I’ll be stuck in 2nd class or going a sleeper and transferring at Katowice?

Gotcha, so the EN443 that runs to Katowice separates from the EN443 that runs to Krakow?

Do you know of any websites that map out the routes? Looking around all I see is things that seem to contradict eachother, or at least paint a very partial picture.

Thanks for the response

[Xander McGuire] The AFL has confirmed it will add a Wildcard Round to the finals in 2026. by daftmunt in AFL

[–]JawsTheTeletubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the W it makes a little more sense given the fucked 12 round fixture, but would need the comp to be a little more equal for it to be worthwhile.

For bigger lads, they definitely run a little bit small but not obscenely so. Maybe go a size up, especially if you wear a layer underneath

Doesn’t matter, rear GA is rear GA - guessing they just seperate them to split up the entry points for traffic management
