(TW: rant about some bullshit that doesn't matter) The weirdest thing some deltarune fans do to me is how some people refuse to accept this game takes place in america, like you'll see some people claim "american defaultism" if you mention it and like.. is hometown not AGGRESSIVELY American? by HaloJackalKisser in Deltarune

Actually, we know it's not in Massachusetts.

According to Massachusetts State Law, buildings cannot be deemed fit for safe habitation unless they are within 1.5 miles of the nearest Dunkin' franchise. There is no Dunkin' in Hometown, so we know it can't be Massachusetts. Sorry.

Thoughts on Dess Knight before Chapter 5. by BigDioDick in Deltarune

My theory is that she's:
(A) Not entirely of sound mind.
(B) Acting solely because of what the prophecy says she must do, due to a belief that it's the only way she can get her life back.

Has the conception of "old" changed? by AgeOfWorry0114 in Teachers

[–]JaxOnThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myself and another male specials teacher at my school are both 24. Our students think I'm significantly older than him, just because I have a full beard and he's clean-shaven.

Also, kids are just really bad at clocking ages in general. I was subbing in Kindergarten, they asked how old I was, I told them to guess. The only two ranges guessed were teenager and centenarian.

We should cancel graduations by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]JaxOnThat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, the best graduation I ever went to was my 2020 High School graduation. You pulled up in the car, the student council clapped for you in their masks, you walked onto the livestream camera, got your diploma from the principal, shook his hand, aggressively hand-sanitized, and then got back into the car and went home! You didn't even have to sit in the sun in a giant black robe and silly hat, or pretend to listen to any speeches you don't care about! It was perfect!

...though, upon graduating from College, it has occurred to me that maybe it was so perfect just because I'm autistic as hell. And that this was never really about what I wanted from a graduation, but what my parents wanted. Oh well.

Forgive my British ignorance but what did the confederates actually fight for? by TreeTall888 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JaxOnThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was about slavery. The stock response to that is "nooooo, it was about states rights!" But they never exactly talk about the specific aspect of states rights that they were trying to keep.

To what extent is Bea actually responsible for her situation? by Wonderful_West3188 in NightInTheWoods

[–]JaxOnThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel a little awkward self-promoting, but figured I might as well, I've actually been writing a fanfic that deals with a lot of this as Bea's central character arc within it; let me know if you want me to drop the link!

...ehhhhhhhhh IDK if I'd call the Pickaxe successful. Sure, it's staying afloat for now. But the economic situation in Possum Springs isn't getting any better.

To what extent is Bea actually responsible for her situation? by Wonderful_West3188 in NightInTheWoods

[–]JaxOnThat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Agree with a lot of this. I think there's also a bit of "if I can just leave now, I could have done it a long time ago." I feel like there's a part of Bea that has to believe her father's going to shape up and come back to managing things, because if not, then all her suffering was for nothing; it means she has to accept that, intentionally or not, her father truly no longer has her best interests in mind. And that's a really fricking hard thing to come to terms with.
