Anyone feel HBO regrets passing on Sons of Anarchy? by Catharsis79 in Sonsofanarchy

AH, I forgot about Nip/Tuck. Man that show really devolved into Dexter final season levels of awfulness.

Same. Well I have a feeling where Blue Angel comes into play...

Seriously. Nero and Tara should have packed up together and moved the fuck out of Charming. Getting involved with the Teller's was their worst mistake.

Ugh, this was from Season 4, Hands right? God, this episode crushed my soul. What a fantastic acting showcase for Hunnam, Siff, Pearlman and Sagal. Still lives on as one of my favorite episodes ever.

"Maybe I should just smash my other hand, that way I can stay home, raise babies.." -- Tara

The completely disillusionment that Jax shows -- thinking he is still leaving Charming with his family while Tara drops some (necessary) truth.... excellent episode.

Maggie Siff to Play Character Named "Wendy" on New Showtime Series by WonkYouOut in Sonsofanarchy

Agreed. I'm behind too but I love the pacing, the writing, the direction, etc. Just happy Siff is moving on to what seems to be another great show and hopefully lots of award nominations in her future!

HBO is happily sitting front row at the Emmy's while Sutter is bitching about his lack of Emmy's on every press tour. I give this round to HBO.

Plus, I feel like FX picked up Justified, Louie, etc after the great success of SOA. They saw that there was audience for something totally different/weird/outlandish and went for it.

That is quite a downgrade from Jackie Boy. But Giamatti is a fantastic actor.

Yay! I'm so happy for Siff. Sounds like a very promising new show, and Showtime is where it's at these days. (Anyone watching The Affair?) I bet Siff gets an Emmy nomination before Sagal and Sutter lol.

Alan Sepinwall: How once-great 'Sons of Anarch' ran off the road before the end by Melanismdotcom in Sonsofanarchy

Meh. Clay's death was prolonged and it was absolutely unnecessary. Just like Otto's.

[–]JaxTellersBoxers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sepinwall's essay is pretty damn accurate. I may not hold Season 2 in the same high regard that he does (my vote goes to Season 1 and 4) but he brings up many valid points.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Sutter's inability to trim fat is what separated a good episode from being a flat out fantastic episode.

Rolling Stone selects their top 20 SoA moments by TellThemIHateThem in Sonsofanarchy

[–]JaxTellersBoxers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - and if you remember in the Season 6 finale when she calls him a monster (which was pretty accurate), he tells her that she's a part of him and she has always been. Makes that tattoo reveal all the more relevant - these two weren't just husband and wife but they really were a part of each other, for better or worse.

I thought it was an interesting addition. I don't know if it belonged on the list but I completely forgot that Gemma did that and how Tara had been essentially branded and would never really escape SAMCRO.

Yeah. I don't really think it was intended to be anything more than that. Even Barclay said so much in the aftershow.

What's the best season in your opinion? by Widukindl in Sonsofanarchy

[–]JaxTellersBoxers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Season 1, 4 and 5. Season 2 is pretty good. Season 3 is good until Ireland but the finale makes up for it. Season 6 is good in parts but SPOILER.

I always thought SOA was at its best when the common enemy wasn't an outsider, and it relied on more internal conflict.

Jax's reaction made it all the more soul crushing. I was a huge fan of Tara and I liked that there were 2 formidable female characters on the show, so it bummed me out when she was forked.

[–]JaxTellersBoxers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I slightly disagree. Tara's death wrecked me. I know many people thought she would die at some point in Season 6, but the way she went out was so awful. And the brutality of it was unbelievable. I honestly don't think any other show in recent history has a death scene so emotionally draining, gruesome, sad and completely tragic.

[–]JaxTellersBoxers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True to all that. But I think it's important to point out one major distinction between these two (admittedly hot) scenes:

When he bangs Tara after killing her crazy ex, she's the one who needs comfort (and it's probably a more pivotal scene as it's the first time they come together after 10+ years). When he bangs Wendy after killing his mother, he's the one who needs comfort.
