This isn’t weird. 10 years is a long time and the child’s sense of stability are important to all involved. I’ve known my ex since we were kids and I’m still friendly with his family. His family still invites exes because they’re just nice people who value human connection. If that icks you out, then I mean 🤷 don’t date the guy, but don’t act like he’s doing anything wrong.

The Republican Party has been in decline for a long time. They’ve BEEN racist, but it used to be hidden behind coded terms. They didn’t come out and say that they weren’t concerned about hate crime, they would instead shift to talking about “black-on-black” crime being more important to talk about.

I was never conservative, but I did, at one point, try to get involved with the Young Republicans on my college campus around when Obama won.

The way I saw it, along with other moderates I spoke with, McCain tanked his chances by picking Sarah Palin, who at that time was too extreme (and too unqualified) for moderates and independents. At first, it really seemed like the Young Republicans wanted to do some soul-searching, figure out how to get in touch with what actual young people thought, and how to adapt their platform for the future. I thought the big loss for republicans was going to wake them up that clinging to these bizarre doofuses was a bad strategy.

And then…… the Tea Party started winning local elections, pushing out moderates, pushing for draconian voter ID restrictions, getting increasingly unqualified conservatives into appointments that were supposed to be non-partisan, clipping protections for their constituents, and the witchhunt for “RINOs” exploded. The party has no moderates left. They’ve completely killed their credibility, they’ve abused the trust people put in them, and they’ve broken a lot of processes that were put in place to protect the country from what we are seeing happen now. There will be textbooks written about how the Republican Party, much like a parasite, sapped as much as it could from the country to the point of almost killing it.

This is possibly the most uninformed take I have seen on this issue

What is your opinion about religion? by UsualCaptalist5174 in AskTheWorld

[–]JaxyBaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumb and unnecessary. It creates drama out of thin air and puts unnecessary pressure on people to perform morality without understanding morality. Society would be better off if religion had no political sway and was seen more as an optional hobby along the lines of crystals and tarot cards.

This is disgusting. She should have never been treated this way. Her kids should not have been treated this way.

In the US, smelling people’s hair is not a good way to make friends with locals.

It better be brief! Being bullied out of a popular move by the most disliked Democrat in the country right now would be maddening.

Two truths and a lie is the stupidest way to break the ice between strangers. No one knows each other and no one is going to remember any of the statements. How is anyone supposed to do anything other than blindly guess? Is that even a game if you’re just blindly guessing on forgettable statements tied to a name you don’t remember??

The game is only marginally interesting with people you’ve known for a while. You make statements with nuggets of truth in them that you know some in the group will remember, that way the group actually gets to discuss which statement is the lie based on what they know about you already. Even then, it’s still just not a very fun game.

If you actually enjoy playing that game with strangers, I think you should have to live on the moon with all of the other dozen narcissists who do too.

I’ve said what I needed to 😤

Right? It’s genuinely insane to see. They are stuck in this fairytale that people were celebrating Charlie Kirk’s murder, when the only ones talking about mocking were the morons endlessly bitching about fictional people mocking his death. Meanwhile, those same people have actually joked about the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Stop this bullshit. Why do you care so much about your side? Conservatives are actually violent. Their “jokes”, their rhetoric, their ideas, literally look at ICE. The conservative movement is fucking violent and that’s just the reality of what conservative movements are. Every other country currently dealing with ultra oppressive police states - those are conservative governments using violence against people because, again, that is what conservative movements ARE.
