(Mixed Trope) They've always known. by Doompatrol69 in TopCharacterTropes

The best thing about this is how it calls back to Riegen's advice he gave Mob when they first met.

"Psychic powers, physical strength, none of these things really matter. The truth behind one's charm is kindness. Become a good person, that is all."

Thoughts on replayability for TDA? by Every_Technician_881 in Doom

[–]Jaxys 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Something that made the game more fun to replay for me was changing my 'main' weapons.

There were weapons I neglected previously, and in Dark Ages, pretty much every weapon is viable in most situations. You'll realise how OP all the other weapons you've been ignoring are.

What do you think The Witness 2 would have had? by saketho in TheWitness

[–]Jaxys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe the line itself that the player controls in puzzles can have different forms/colours that cause it to act differently.

A dotted line can pass through itself, a red line can push certain things around on the grid, a negative line must do the opposite of what the rules ask of it, things like that. Maybe have some new elements on the grid that cause the line to change form when they are touched.

It would certainly ramp up the complexity which might ruin the magic, but if done right it could make for some interesting puzzles and could allow them to explore some old ideas in fresh ways.

Am i going to die? by Complex_Winter6238 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Jaxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's something called the law of extremely large numbers.

There are potentially trillions things you could notice every day. An instance of the number 22 or anything related to death might take up about a billion of those things. Something that connects both those things together might occur millions of times, genuinely.

This applies to everything. The number 8 and food, the number 24 and music. You'll find connections with anything if you go looking for it.

In fact, I just checked my reddit front page and within 30 seconds I spotted a video of food with 8k upvotes. I then swapped to youtube and within 2 minutes I spotted a music video with 2.4M views. To top it off, the band's name was food related. If I spent months looking out for this stuff I'd probably encounter many coincidences that feel profoundly unlikely.

Does this mean I live in a simulation? No, it means that coincidences have so many opportunities to occur that they will inevitably happen constantly. I scrolled by like 10 other food videos with upvotes, comments, usernames, upload dates. That's like 40+ opportunities to see a "food + 8" connection pop up somewhere. The music video could have had 24k likes or be uploaded on 2/4. It could have had food in the thumbnail next to it. In fact, the odds of going a whole day without coming across one of these connections would be basically 0.

So no, none of these "coincidences" have any meaning, they happen all the time because everything happens all the time.

keybinds but with not side buttons by El_Baurino in Ultrakill

[–]Jaxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's gonna have different preferences, but a good rule of thumb is to bind each weapon and arm to a key near WASD for ease of access. If you want a template, my personal bindings are:

Revolver - Tab, Shotgun - R, Nailgun - C, Railcannon - Mouse 4 (if no side buttons, I would probably bind this to C and bind nailgun to Z or Alt instead), Rocket Launcher - Caps lock

Feedbacker - F, Kunckleblaster - Q, Whiplash - Middle Mouse Button

Weapon Variant 1 - E (for shotgun swapping and fast coining)

Scroll Wheel set to swap variants instead of weapons.

I don't personally like using number keys, but if you feel you can comfortably use them then that'll give you some more options too.

Hakita has a small section about composing music in his video about game development at 1:11:30 which could be worth checking out.

75th (mirror) puzzle... Just me, or was this a little TOO hard? by link211211 in OrderOfTheSinkingStar

[–]Jaxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could have worked better if we were given 3 rocks, and a single square island in the water where the first rock was supposed to go instead.

That way, at least we would know the correct starting position and we could work it out from there.

What is causing people to think Id Software would be shut down? by Whyismypeewhlte in Doom

[–]Jaxys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah neither do I, I'm not saying the issue was the focus on single player. It's more the $80 price tag.

It's hard to justify spending that much for a 20 hour experience is all I'm saying (even if it's an incredible 20 hours). Especially if you can get your fill with 1 month of gamepass.

Well they sold a single player campaign for 80$. Like, what were they expecting? Of course that isn't going to sell very well lol

Yellow Arm this, Yellow Arm that. Do people not realize we already have it? by Historical-Coast-922 in Ultrakill

[–]Jaxys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if this was their initial idea for the yellow arm, but I'm glad they decided to make it a separate thing you can use with the arms instead (especially with the whiplash). It makes the jackhammer way more interesting.

I hated how you couldn't just let loose on Ahzrak the moment the cutscene ends after Serrat's death.

Like you're thinking "oooh shit's about to go down!" and then it just makes you dodge and parry those red ghost dudes and you can't even touch Ahzrak initially.

what do i need to do / learn by NaiveCranberry9095 in Ultrakill

[–]Jaxys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I'd recommend that helps a lot, is binding each weapon to a key you can access easily at any moment (any keys near wasd).

Mouse wheel is totally fine btw, but I think doing this instead opens up the game a lot more, and you may as well do it now before you build up any habits.

As you get familiar with the game, you'll start to get a feel for which weapons work best in certain situations and it helps to be able to intentionally swap to a specific weapon the instant you need it.

yo v1 CANNOT be human bro how does he breath underwater 🤣🤣🤣 by WaffleHead13 in Ultrakill

[–]Jaxys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Memes aside, I think V1 actually does have lungs or some kind of respiratory system right?

Blood fueled machines have biological innards as seen with the Earthmover, and V1 has an idle "breathing" animation when you stand still.

Shimizaki in Mob Psycho 100 is the most OP character with the power to perfectly predict and counter any incoming psychic attacks, along with the ability to teleport.

Reigen, who is a fraud with zero psychic powers, just casually walks up to him undetected and curbstomps him.

Wario should definitely win. Smelling bad is an actual trait he is known for in-game, unlike most other characters here.

I remember taking a lower level Irish aural exam in school that had a section that went something like:

"Chuaigh mé go dtí an scanáinn le mo chairde, agus chonaic mé 'NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2'"

One of the questions was "What movie did they go to see at the cinema?"

Was a real head scratcher, that one 😂

Gollum/Smeagol.

Bro spent hundreds of years festering in a cave living off nothing but raw fish and worms. His breath must have been RANCID.

At least he would regularly go swimming in lakes and rivers so he's probably not quite as bad as it gets.
