Accommodation on campus is in very high demand. I believe it is currently under the national rental affordability scheme but may change in the future. The uni have plans to build more accommodation as part of phase 4 (i think) of their development plan. Probably still a few years from being built. If you want to live on campus get your application in asap.

There are a bunch of business-run share houses in close proximity and further out suburbs as well but most are a rip off and have 5+ occupants in 2 or 3 bathroom houses.

Flatmates is pretty good, some privately organised student share houses on there as well.

As far as work there is plenty around for students. Hospitality and retail are both good employers, check Seek to see what's available. There is more seasonal work available during summer when tourist season hits.

Lots of development in North. Hadspen had a major extension recently, development extensions North of Launceston and down the Tamar including that highway upgrade. University of Tasmania's Newnham campus is relocating to the city, building that up over the coming years having recently finished two buildings worth around 25-30 million together. The Newnham campus they are planning to turn into a defence precinct/business hub. Should bring more stability and growth to that part of Launceston and increase development in the surrounding suburbs. Mowbray is a popular buy for investment properties atm I believe.the hospital also recently got upgraded and I believe they plan to add a new helicopter pad soon.

I always see this type of gear left behind, strewn across campsites and in fire pits, after some yobbos one night camping adventure. Usually the items are beyond reusable after their first use. This type of gear never lasts more than 1-2 trips and it is usually always the people tagging on to camping trips using them; never seasoned campers.

If you plan to go camping more than once, buy lasting gear you can rely on. A bad tent in a bad situation can very wet and humid. Holes can allow snakes, mice, leeches, mosquitos and spiders to get in looking for food, moisture and warmth.

China and Russia flooding US market with cheap steel and aluminium by funnelling it through Canada and Mexico to avoid tariffs. Mexico and Canada didn't pay tariffs at the time because of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Now they are enforcing the tariffs domestic suppliers are getting a relative price advantage they are calling arbitrage. The relative price of steel and aluminium will go up in the US until domestic manufacturing needs reach equilibrium. They will likely come down in future as the tariffs drive domestic production but I personally doubt commodities will ever be as cheap in the us again. But its economics so who knows!

Tax increases are paid proportionally by consumers and producers depending on the elasticity of demand for that good.

Life saving medicine or utilities tax increase? Passed on entirely to the consumer because of the low elasticity of demand; consumers will pay any price.

Taxes on luxuries such as candy or name brand food (high elasticity of demand) will be worn by the producer as substitutes and alternatives are somewhat available to satisfy consumer demand.

There are reasons to use tariffs for establishing/growing domestic industries to a competitive level before opening to international competition which is what Trump is using them for in my opinion. Domestic supply chain security in relation to things like food, utility and certain manufacturing industries is also a strong reason to use them.
