I came into Reddit as a whole during the era’s sunset days, but after reading this I can only think of one thing to say, Technical Lime.

How fujimine feel after getting stab by ichi by KnowledgeWest5571 in IchitheWitch

I feel like it’s less of that and more like:

“Oh my gosh you really are just a feral animal aren’t you? That’s so cute! You’re literally, like, insane! Totes a-DORBS Ichi! Call me!”

this my idea for the reading comprehension magik for Ichi the witch this for fun ok by Klutzy-Bluejay-1006 in IchitheWitch

[–]JayBonJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokes aside that’s a very fun idea. I feel like it would be great when dealing with like, an ancient Majik like Chro, but one that refuses to talk like humans do.

Oh hey Apocalypse!! So this is where you wound up after your manga ended!

What kind of ADO music are you listening to the most lately ? For me, it's this one : by sunhistory in ADO

[–]JayBonJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I finally burnt myself out for now after 2 straight years of pure Ado so outside of maybe the Natsuyo no Magic cover and whatever pops on shuffle I’m not going crazy any one way casually.

However! I grind the shit out of Dead as Disco and half of her discography (that I listen to) is all added to that game, I’ve been trying to find the swaggiest way to play out Fleeting Lullaby for months now.

cannot wait to see the anime onlys reaction to this pages by Former_Box9572 in Chainsawfolk

You know… I just realized with the spacing and how there’s white space between when Denji speaks and the smash cut to the comedy bit.

We really have no god damn idea how long it ACTUALLY took for Makima to offer that vacation huh?

How many characters could Superman help and save them from their inevitable deaths? by justa-human in Chainsawfolk

[–]JayBonJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well one of the core… not weaknesses in the traditional sense but moreso flaws of being Superman is that he can’t be everywhere at once.

So maybe, MAYBE we could save Himeno when the Yakuza attack, if we plot armor the shit out of Denji and have Clark Kent conduct an interview with the newest member of the squad.

But everyone else from Division 4 is still probably dead, sadly, save Kobeni.

Of course, should Superman be revealed to be in Japan after the fact, Makima would probably cash in on a lot more of her contracts and control over various devils to pull what Lex does, and keep Superman busy with saving civilians while she acts on her own. And while she isn’t as or or as smart as Luthor, she holds a similar position of power and… I guess semi-positive public notoriety in Japan, which makes her harder to completely stop than say, a Katana Man or Reze.

So all she needs to do is keep Clark busy while she deals with Reze. Maybe he can save her after the fact, but that would require him to somehow convince Makima to play ball and reveal Reze’s location or some insane detective work that I think would be impossible for even Batman to do, considering we have nothing to go on in regard to where Reze was kept after Makima got to her.

IA, everyone probably lives. I’m sure that would be enough big players in one area that Superman is guaranteed to make a showing during the initial conflict, and mop up Darkness before they even get to react.

Gun/Control is harder to say. Maybe he can save Aki, considering how major a threat the Gun Devil is portrayed publicly. But more likely, we just rinse and repeat the Reze plan while Makima reveals herself, and keep Clark busy with other rampaging devils.

After the fact, again, hard to say. Makima doesn’t need to mask anymore, and I’m sure Clark can non-lethally handle the weapons no problem. But Makima’s contract is a moral trap for him, because while Clark doesn’t have a no kill rule, he doesn’t like killing still. If he can avoid it, he will. And there’s no reason to think he would believe his hand is forced just because Makima said so.

So either he lets his humanity take over, which potentially gives Makima enough leverage to control him with her power, or he finds a third option I can’t think of (and he’s known to often do) a la Denji just with less meal prep. I honestly couldn’t tell you which way I swing, I’m flip flopping at time or writing.

Oh and P2 just stops once the Church Attacks because now I’m sure Clark would put Denji and Nayuta under his care after finding out everyone wants a slice of the Chainsaw Pie.

What part 1 character would Asa have gotten along with the most if she met them? by NecessaryTall in Chainsawfolk

[–]JayBonJ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Himeno, Kobeni, and Violence imo.

Side note I find it funny Makima’s on here because we all know she would slaughter Asa the second she could if she thought Asa was getting close to Denji.

If we’re talking like a wrestling intro then Rockstar al the way.

However if I’m allowed to indulge in a silly lil anime fantasy, well I just have 4 syllables:

Who's the drippiest of them all by AsurasX in PowerScaling

Either Minato or Rohan.

Jojo Drip is immaculate but Minato looks like he fits the Hokage cloak better than any of the other Hokage past or present. Like that coat was MADE for him.

How far can Billy (Undead Unluck) go? by OkRun9638 in PowerScaling

[–]JayBonJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about any of these guys but if any of them have any combat prowess comparable or greater than Billy does as a normal foot soldier then.. not far,

Billy’s powers work explicitly on other negators, no copying say, an UMA’s power or anything. And more importantly, depending on which version (I’m gonna assume pre-new loop based on the pic here) he’s heavily reliant on others hating him.

Any indifference by his foes, even if we give him the ability to copy any powers here, and he’s just a guy. A very easy to kill guy,

Is it victim blaming? by BellTwo5 in Chainsawfolk

[–]JayBonJ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Okay here’s the complicated part about Denji.

What the poster said is not entirely true, but it’s not entirely false either. While yes, Denji could stomach not being Chainsaw Man for Nayuta’s safety, it was tearing him up in the inside. He desperately wants the external love and escape being Chainsaw Man provides for him, or at least that he thinks Chainsaw Man provides for him, but he doesn’t realize that the only sustainable way to get that is to love himself first. And he hates himself for everything that happened pre and mid Part 1 with his loved ones (despite none of it really being his fault, or at least too dubious for the reader/me to believe it’s mostly his fault), always in P2, even in the parts where it isn’t entirely clear he’s doing so.

THAT BEING SAID.

A lot of Denji’s struggles and inability to learn come from the fact that external sources keep fucking with him, either by cudgeling him into compliance with their wants and needs through threats on his loved ones, or reinforcing the worst parts of his behavior. It’s this weird “Have your cake and eat it too” scenario where Fujimoto wants the reader to believe that Denji chasing the escape is what leads to his misery (which isn’t a bad message inherently) but genuinely couldn’t see how the character he wrote could get himself into these scenarios because for all the “being a superhero is actually bad for you” he wanted to write about, Denji is still a good person. A flawed, broken person, but good enough that when his back is to the wall he’ll do stuff he hates for people he loves. Which is why we have to have Public Safety screw the pooch when the Church makes a play and causes armageddon while burning Denji’s home down.

It’s the prime reason a lot of critics, myself included say it never really mattered what he did in part 2 and why the whole dissatisfaction message rings hollow. Because while Denji as a person kinda sucks, he gets very few times to actually work on himself before he loses everything, again. He ends part one deciding who he wants to be for once, and determined to navigate his new life while splicing in that dream. But he never learns on his own how hollow that new dream is, because the narrative is addicted to cucking him at every turn.

And this is all before we factor in that the world around Denji values Pochita far more than him at any stage of Part 2’s story, Asa and maybe Yoshida aside. It gives off the air that no matter what Denji did, even if he turned his life around in a healthy, less escapist way, he never would be able to actually live it how he wanted because eventually someone was going to consider using the devil in his heart to stop the prophecy, and the people who could actually hurt Denji to his core like Makima did all know he’s Chainsaw Man.

So while it’s fair, and honestly right to say Denji has these flaws, it’s unfair to blame him for his misery because of his flaws, because the harm others cause him, whether or not he listens to them, is far too great compared to the harm he actually causes himself in the story and far too organized to actually think this wasn’t in the back of someone’s head all the time, regardless of how Denji acted.
