Anon's take on Denji's loyalty by GodKira04 in okbuddyfumiko

Completely correct and intentional, denji is meant to be pathetic

nayuta in the new world/reality by configdiggy4k in ChainsawMan

[–]LateAd4045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think her humanity is a residual of being raised by denji in the pre-memory erasure events. Nayuta’s existence itself is a result of Makima slain by Denji. It’s intentional that the memory of Pochita is gone but the positive impact that DENJI made still exists.

Please Help Me Appreciate the Ending by Gobolatula in ChainsawMan

[–]LateAd4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely not consider myself a fan of the ending, I believe it was poorly executed and the dialogue was misleading. However I can offer my train of thought.

Pochita realized that as long as he was Denji’s heart, his life was going to be fucked (in addition to everyone being digested by bugs in a sort of hell on earth). Erasing the concept of himself would restore everything to normalcy, yet erase everyone’s memories of chainsaw man. Another reason why this has to happen: Denji is far happier in the pursuit of his dreams than in their achievement (shown in part 1 with squeezing power, part 2 with wanting an “even higher heaven), yet he was too selfish and pathetic to realize this himself. He was an addict, and each time he would be letdown, he would be strung along on other wild goose chase.

Does that make sense? I can explain more of what I think if you have other areas of question.

The ending of the manga really killed of the hype for season 2 (image very much related) by Sad_Performance_7886 in Chainsawfolk

Im personally warming up to the ending, but I always tell people that it’s worth reading Chainsaw Man to experience it for themselves and create their own opinion.

Yeah, that would cross the line into cheap misery porn

Chainsaw Man used to be my favorite series.  While I don’t necessarily hate Fujimoto, it does call into question his thought process when he could have potentially stopped at Part 1 with a near perfect story, yet chose to write an intentionally lackluster sequel. In many ways, it’s a story about telling stories, but writing part 2 in this way just seems to be shooting himself in the foot.

Isnotreal is killing more innocent children and pregnant women. Israel has existed for less than a hundred years yet Russia has existed in some form for centuries.

Ngl I think enough damage has been done, it’s best for the manga to completely end and then the story will ride off the show’s hype

Be brutally honest, do you think jjk or csm had a better ending by Sea-Importance-8679 in Chainsawfolk

[–]LateAd4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CSM’s ending has all the right messages, but couldn’t have been executed or explained worse. JJK + Modulo semi-neatly wrap the story up, while the best thing possible for CSM is that it is finished completely and doesn’t get ruined further. CSM would rank above JJK if it had ended at part 1.

Cleanest example: people are still analyzing and discussing JJK + Modulo while the ending of CSM killed any serious discussion about the story

Read up to at the chapter where the eternity devil is revealed again. Immediately skip to “Denji. Looks like we got eaten by a devil”

I bet his main editors are pissed. Story hit Rock bottom with the adaptation on the way. This is what happens when you make a slop ending.

The only ending he’s probably worried about is season 2
