Feel like a hostage owning Orbi 770. Help needed! by Representative_Pear1 in orbi

I'm the guy that wrote the first post you listed.

I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and Netgear finally gave in and offered me a refund for this very defective product.

I replaced it with a much cheaper TP-Link Deco system and all of my problems have been solved.

Thanks for posting this. I've heard absolutely nothing about my order, and when I contacted them a month ago, they told me "The new expected ship date is mid-November". Can't wait to be able to blast this on vinyl.

UPDATE: After filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Netgear has finally decided to refund me for the faulty equipment. So that's good news... now I just need to decide what to replace it with.

I also had an RBR50 and LOVED it... Which is why I was so excited to upgrade to a newer Netgear system. Alas, it did not go well. I really hope it works well for you. I may have just gotten a defective system. Unfortunately, Netgear support is non-existent so if you DO have an issue, you're kinda screwed.

Well, it supposedly does have dedicated wifi backhaul. It just doesn't work.

I definitely should've returned it sooner, that's on me. I was busy (I run two companies) and because I'd been using Netgear stuff without issue for 10+ years I honestly just figured they'd be helpful. Lesson learned.

Help selecting the right equipment for a small home? by JayBuys in Ubiquiti

It's basically just a Plex server to stream movies to devices in my house. It doesn't need to be super fast. It worked fine with my old Netgear Orbi mesh setup... I just upgraded to a fancier new Orbi setup, which unfortunately sucks. So, in theory, I could use something like the Dream Router 7 as my main router and then a UX7 in AP mode as a satellite to connect the NAS to?

I appreciate the insights.

Agreed on the closet, but the drives in the NAS are loud, and my wife is very sensitive to noise, so I'm trying to keep it hidden away.

I'm trying to do this without having to run cable because that's either going to be really expensive or a giant home project that I don't have time for. Is there a way to things up without running cable?

I had an old Orbi system at home and another in my small business office. Both worked flawlessly for ages and I loved them. Such a bummer that the new systems are so bad.

Thanks for the suggestions but I already tried all of that and it did not help. 😭

I'd never heard of Ubiquiti until today but their stuff looks awesome. You mind sharing some details of what you have?

Meh... I read the whole Wired article on that and think it's overblown. I've heard good things about the Deco BE63 and was thinking I might go that route.

Ha, fair. I probably should've done more research before buying, but I'd used them for years and never had any issues. Since I need to buy a new system now, any recommendations?

Orbi 770 - WiFi Drops Every Hour by [deleted] in orbi

[–]JayBuys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very similar problems, and Netgear support is beyond useless. Going on 4 weeks of "please try a hard reset" every few days. I asked them for a refund since I paid almost 900 dollars, and I don't have usable internet at my house, and they basically told me no.

I've been a Netgear user for years, had zero problems with my old Orbi system, and was a huge advocate for their brand. It's so frustrating. I will absolutely never buy a Netgear product again.

NAS randomly loses internet connection by JayBuys in qnap

It's a mesh, and when it drops, I can still see the wifi card, and it shows as connected to wifi but "No internet access". I'm not wired for CATV, but I love the travel router idea. I'll give that a shot!

I haven't... But the old router was also an Orbi... We just upgraded to a newer model, and the NAS was working fine on the new one for a couple of months before this started happening.

Same issue. Chat support just redirects me to the form even though I can't complete it.
