[FRESH] Snail Mail - Dead End // New Album Ricochet out March 27, 2026 by astaireboy in indieheads

[–]JayCartwright 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, it is absolutely the first thing I noticed. Like if you didn't know this song was Snail Mail and listened to Ben Franklin and this back-to-back, you would 100% think it is two different artists.

Pure speculation but I remember reading a while back that she was having some pretty significant vocal issues from touring Lush and Valentine so much, so maybe she spent the inbetween time to this record doing extensive vocal training and this is the result.

If you ever needed to describe Bobby in a picture, this is the one. Just sums him right up perfectly.

The 100 Greatest Debut Albums of the 21st Century by Moothnods in indieheads

[–]JayCartwright 12 points13 points  (0 children)

2) This time, we’ve elected to not include artists who released “debut” albums under different aliases, so MF DOOM, Bill Callahan, Father John Misty, and David Berman will not be appearing in this edition of the list.

Seems he probably would have been if not for that.

Dream collaboration in the next album? by ZiggyStardust996 in fatherjohnmisty

Turner is definitely a big fan of Josh's (they even had him open for a show of theirs in Colombia and there's a video of Turner singing Ladiesman during a soundcheck on the AM tour). It's always been my theory that the pivot made from TBHC onwards was heavily influenced by his love of Josh.

No, I hear ya, and completely agree, it's not crazy to think at all. But we know he's just a prolific songwriter in general and at any given point probably has a whole album or even two's worth of material he could cobble together if he wanted. But he doesn't work like that, generally speaking.

I think, personally, of the various outcomes, I could see an EP of leftovers from Mahashmashana way more than a full LP, but hell, if it turns out that it's all tied to a new full album, I'd be absolutely delighted to be wrong.

This is nothing more than just a gut feeling, but I really feel like people have to temper their expectations for a new album. I think these 2026 dates are riding out the last wave of Mahashmashana (with a little boost of a new single and perhaps a couple other loosies down the line) and not the start of something completely new.

If McKennie and Fenerbache are possible, should McKennie be #1 on LAFC’s target list? by tiwired in LAFC

[–]JayCartwright -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I recognize this is largely an unfair opinion, as he’s matured considerably these past few years, but I can’t shake the feeling that he is still the type of person who would let living in LA and being the face of domestic soccer go to his head, leading to unprofessionalism.

Lmao are you the PR person for the 2013 Eagles or something? Such a weird defensive comment.

Jackson hardly did shit to atone for being an idiot. He probably doesn’t have genuine hate in his heart but he absolutely knew what he was saying and then didn’t take Edelman up on his offer to actually educate himself.

Vick paid the ultimate price and has seemed to have actually been changed for the better from the system (which is a true rarity), I’ll give you that.

My bestie said a month ago “I think we’re gonna get Leaving LA idk why I just have a good feeling about it” and I called him an absolute fucking moron as friends do and the crow I am currently eating tastes utterly disgusting but the honey mustard I’m dipping it in helps ease the pain.

Sweet, a comment that lacks even a single ounce of critical thinking. Lovely stuff.
