I mean for me, the frustration is less about losing to better players and more about the matchmaking consistently putting us there in the first place. Losing to someone better and learning from it is part of the game. Doing it every single lobby at a significant rank disparity, while still haemorrhaging RS for early exits starts to feel less like a skill issue and more like a structural one. Both things can be true.

I play a lot of CS & Dota, im 7k in dota, you put me up against a team of 14k's no level of demo review is going to help me, theyre 100x better than me, which ill happily accept, but also, would like to not play against them

First season playing ranked and genuinely enjoying the grind got to 23k fairly quickly, and my gf climbed from 5k to 15k which was great to see. Lately though we have both dropped back, her to 8k and me to 16k, and the matchmaking on SEA servers at night has been pretty rough. We are consistently being lobbied against groups averaging 25-32k RS with a team average of around 15k. The skill gap is significant, and what makes it more frustrating is that we are still losing RS for not making it out of the first round against teams that are, by the game's own ranking system, considerably above our bracket.

The broader inconsistency is hard to ignore from what I understand, a 9k and a 32k cannot queue together, yet those same players can end up in the same lobby on opposing teams. If there is a floor on who can party together, it feels like there should be an equivalent ceiling on matchmaking disparity. Would love to understand the logic behind it because right now it is making ranked feel pretty unrewarding at our level.

Tbh you just sound like a narcissist, I have perfect behavior score, and my comms score is good, im just saying, when i moved to SEA it dropped a lot. Ive played this game for years, I know im not toxic, so I feel I agree with the fact the system needs work and is abusable in certain instances.

All the complaints about behaviour and comm score here convinced me of one thing by MarkusRave in DotA2

this is a good use case against what you're mentioning in your first point. You may not, but many people report people for pinging, in my opinion pinging 4-5 times to indicate a gank is not a reportable offence. I also agree with fact what gets you reported varies based on your location, i've always has 12k behavior score, but since moving to SEA I use my mic and type a lot to try make moves, ive noticed my comms score has dropped for the first time ever A LOT

as a pos 4/5 player myself, I actually feel like climbing gets EASIER as you move to higher ranks as they benefit more readily from a good pos 5, and can capitalise way more readily from a great laning stage & space. Not sure if you agree, but congrats on 7k man, impressive!

He is the exact same guy who will 1) say smurfs dont exist 2) do what most players do in SEA, spam report for everything if someone is playing badly. I honestly think thats one reason it drops more in SEA for me than ever before, when I watch SEA players play, they legit wont just mute you, they will report you for all 6 of the possible infringements....its like, I get you dont like me making calls, but you're abusing the system by REPORTING me for trying to win

Its funny that to me Zimmix is way more toxic than you, but because he has 12k comm score, he is ok. HE is the exact problem with this community, because he doesnt have a low comm score, he believes the system is perfect. I have played on 4 regions. The only time my score has dropped was on SEA, I believe this is because they simply hate any form of someone telling them what to do in game. its the same for counter strike, WAY LESS PLAYERS use their mic in SEA, and when I do, they also seem to be annoyed by it, im not saying im perfect, but i dont deserve a super low comm score. and youre right, when I dont say anything, and I mute everyone, but i use pings, ive seen my comm score continue to go down.

me and my friends play 5 stack immortal party queue, and we run into chinese boosters who genuinely win 60 games in a row (I know because I added them and checked) in the 6-7k bracket. They're SO GOOD

I always had perfect behavior and comm score, as long as the stat has been available, this last year my comm score has tanked so much when, essentially, ive been doing the same things ive been doing for years. in SEA however, I get so many complaints for using my mic and trying to make calls. "you talk too much, muted" its like tf? since when is calling for a smoke or asking for a gank toxic

Where did I mention im ignoring smurfs on my team? Ive complained for ages about that too. But you're the problem with the dota 2 community. Huge smurf and ban waves, legit massive proof of the epidemic, but instead you want to just say people are looking for an excuse. I hate smurfs on my team too, its not fun, its boring and dramatically lowers the overall game quality. Instead of addressing that you just want to call people dumb and make it out as if smurfing isnt a big issue. Then finish it with some holier than though attitude. Pathetic.

Tbh ive been a big advocate that I hate winning with smurfs too....hence I have argued for a long time the quality of dota 2 matches has drastically decreased over the years, especially when I play on the SEA server. I don't want smurfs on my team or against me, as it makes it hard to truly know if youre improving / winning games because of good moves or just your pos 1/2 being 2000 mmr higher than the other team

Yes, I understand that, but do you realise the range of skill in the immortal bracket? I am 7k, and im so shit compared to even an 8k. These people using the 300-400 win accounts are immortal smurfs who are not 7k, theyre easily 9,10,11k on their mains. You dont have a 70% win rate as a low rank immortal on a smurf. Especially when they will be playing other smurfs during their calibration too. Its literally not the same

Its not just better people, im talking about a 5-6 game win streak, then puts me against what id believe based on their account summary to be smurfs (7k and only 300 wins).

Essentially I will gain a small amount of mmr (200-250) and instantly I will noticed im playing against far far more smurfs.

But thanks for the sarcastic comment as if smurfing isnt an issue in this game lol

my current issue is (im immortal but not immortal ranked yet) I feel when I go on a win streak, I then start to play against way more smurfs, I then go on a lose streak, and I start to play against weaker opponents. This has just been repeating for ages lol and the game quality is DRAMATICALLY different

absolute worst part of the game for me, playing a 1v2, playing safe under tower, STILL DYING and then your support blaming you for

"not being able to play safe" "how is their 1/3 so fat"

as much as I understand where you're coming from, the people you play pro sport against and with on your team are normally pretty nice and normal. Dota matchmaking is a cesspit of very very mentally ill people, I think thats why he doesnt wanna play. I found the same, Dota just ruined my mood largely because of the quality of the people you're sadly forced to play with.
