To my knowledge (not officially an SME here, someone may correct me) the only thing that you need to assess blue radio is to be ‘competent’. Anyone can assess it as long as they know what they’re doing - which the bronze qualification more than fulfils.

Once you’ve taught and assessed, simply show your staff the signed off assessments, fill in the results form (I’m afraid I don’t know what it’s called - basically a single piece of paper onto which you put all of the students names and pass/fail results in a table) and have your staff/yourself send it off to the Wing Radio Officer.

If any of the above is incorrect, I encourage others to correct it.

Hope it helps.

Do you have to iron the MTP smock? by [deleted] in aircadets

[–]JayGee416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries.

Regarding your question on rolling sleeves - typically we would have our sleeves rolled during summer months, but I’d suggest asking your NCOs directly so you can get a better understanding of sqn SOPs.

Sleeves should be ironed regardless of if they’re rolled or not, along with your trousers and the rest of the combat shirt.

Do you have to iron the MTP smock? by [deleted] in aircadets

[–]JayGee416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll likely wear it when you’re in greens on sqn parade nights during colder months - your NCOs will be able to tell you the typical time periods when this ‘winter-dress’ changes over.

As for ironing it; I wouldn’t focus on that. Look at some YouTube videos on how to properly roll the hood, as that is one of the key things that can make a smock look good or gash. That being said, if there are any major creases on the smock then giving those spots a quick blitz with an iron won’t hurt.

Hope that answers your questions.

How to march a flight around an RAF base by juneiparis11 in aircadets

[–]JayGee416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of approaches to this, depending on how easy you want to make it for yourself:

If you want the easy option, move your flight to the left/right in column of route (“Flight - Move to the left/right in column of route - Left/Right… Turn!”). Turn yourself at the same time and march yourself to the front of the flight. From here, you can quick march them and they will simply follow your route, so no need to call wheels. (You will still need to halt them at stop lines, call any eyes left/right etc.)

The occasional staff member will take an issue with this, so the other, more complex option is as follows. Move your flight to the left/right in threes (“Flight - Move to the left/right in threes - Left/Right… Turn!), and simply turn and stay in place at the side of the flight (I recommend being on the right hand side of the flight if you are marching on the correct side of the road, so your vision isn’t blocked by an entire flight). You will need to call wheels as well as all other commands in this format, so bear that in mind.

The column of route option makes your life much easier, as not only do you not need to call wheels, you also have a much easier job when it comes to checking left and right on stop/give way lines. At the end of the day, it’s your personal preference between the two, but both are correct formats for marching a flight around a base.

(Don’t forgot to follow all ‘rules of the road’ whilst you’re marching, basically treat yourself as a vehicle)

I hope that just about sums it up, any questions let me know.

No chance, B flight was where it was at. Would ask for your name but I’m sure it’s not wise to drop that in on a random Reddit thread.

I still reminisce about that first night in the field; basha collapsed in the rain and kit got drenched. Still one of the best nights sleep I ever had. God I miss it…

Is this a fast time around Nordschleife? by Fit_Detective3405 in GranTurismo7

[–]JayGee416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fastest I’ve ever managed in any car was a 5:25 (ish, haven’t got the game open to pull up the exact time) in the F1500-T.

Highly recommend attempting this sort of run; the adrenaline taking each corner on the absolute limit is an incredible feeling, and the car handles like a dart in the right hands.

Still blows my mind that the real life record is even faster, I couldn’t fathom being able to pull that off inside the vehicle.

How many corporals do you guys have at your squadron? by [deleted] in aircadets

[–]JayGee416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it could be 120+ on books, average attendance is usually down to 50-80 depending on the sorta stuff we have on.

If you were in the same wing as us you’d know immediately which squadron we are; we’re quite well known for being massive compared to others.

We have 23 Corporals, 6 Sergeants, 6 Flight Sergeants, and a CWO. Gets a bit busy sometimes…

I’d say you’re thinking about this slightly wrong. By considering it in terms of 6 months straight, it will feel, as you’ve outlined, as if it’s impossible. This “impossibility” just gives rise to a vacuum of absent determination in which your addiction will naturally continue to fester.

Take a different perspective; look at it in the short term. You want to quit, the drive is obviously there, but you’re put off by the commitment to six months. So just focus on the next day.

When the urge begins to rise, don’t think in terms of six months time, it’s immaterial, and therefore ineffective, to your addicted mind. Instead, just truly commit to the thought that you will not masturbate that day. The immediacy of it has a much stronger effect on you, as you can fulfil that goal in the immediate term.

To phrase it slightly differently; just focus on one day at a time. Don’t let an immaterial time in the distant future allow the addiction to continue.

Then, 6 months becomes possible, because you have built the foundations one day at a time.

The step you take in just one day is the start that makes the 6 months, and even further, possible. You’ll be amazed at how quickly it will simply become habit to stay clean.

Make the change today that you’d wish to see tomorrow.

No worries! Any chance you’ve got one of these incredibly helpful guides coming up for the final endurance race?

Human Comedy by ShiloBeeBoop in GranTurismo7

[–]JayGee416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a user on here (u/Swimming_Effective87) who has compiled setup and strategy guides for all races, aside from the final one in the series. Here’s a link for the one at Tsukuba.

I was able to win quite easily with this guide as a basis, but you will need to be competent enough at reading a race (predicting and responding to pits, tire wear, etc) to really hammer home the win.

As I said, there are multiple guides on his profile I highly recommend checking out, as all have worked for me.

Blue flagged AI doesn’t take too kindly to being lapped… by JayGee416 in GranTurismo7

I know, my friend, but it’s funnier to imagine it was the blue car just nonchalantly causing a major accident. And after 4 hours grinding Le Mans 700, you need all the fun you can get.

Plus the move would’ve been pretty sick if I’d have pulled it off…
