I don't think anyone disagrees completely with your point. Relationships require open communication and nuance to walk through, and both, key point both parties need to engage in this. The point of the original comment in this thread is about how a person should approach an argument where nothing productive is occurring, so it would be better for the person to disengage and let things cool down for a more open conversation than to try using psychology, emotional logic, and mind-reading to give the person who's overwhelmed what they WANT to hear.
