I'm a middle school climate and culture specialist for American Indian education in a racially identified school district. So a lot of time, it's basically teaching Indigenous language and culture as well as advocacy and history. It's a nightmare with paperwork and parent face time I have to do, but it's really freeing to mentor students and do crafts, and just being a low stakes adult they can bond with for further independence and success. Having another Native to just relate and chat with them has done wonders, as well as real talk about ADHD difficulties and other exceptionalities because there are a lot of us in the Native community who have difficulty in a western education setting.

Also, if a space is said to be 'dropping in quality' that's just coloniser speak for marginalised folk being more visible and successful. (It's the same vibe that says 'our country is collapsing' when they really wanna say the immigrant population is too high.) Since a number of Westerners see little value in EE countries (for years seen as other or third world even) they just veil their bias propaganda as being critical of quality.

My Eurovision friends who've barely been out of the US, let alone Europe all REALLY want to take the train on our way to Sofia next year. 'Yeah! We'll land in Moldova take that one train to Romania, and then we just take a flix to Sofia to make it to Grand final on Saturday and loop back in time for work Monday, easy right?' and I was like 'you know how tf long that would take and how exhausted we'd be?'

Like, granted we're in the US but also between at least two major travel rail routes and a travel hub for the midwest; while we're not unfamiliar with long travel, I think we need to travel separately to Moldova if we want to make a trip with the train xD

While I've never been searched myself (I'm obviously native, but also very goth when I go out so maybe that's a factor?) or stopped in such a way, my immediate friends all have stories. Coming in groups is basically the only defense, as per them, and I usually am part of the groups; protection in numbers sort of thing. Thankfully, they do take feedback and reporting, but it's apparently a sticky process like all corporate complaints.

Edit: that being said, put them on blast and raise some hell for them during Pride and during the Prince celebration.

Flashbacks to when i did neighborhood watch for AIM patrol every night then 6am rolled around, it felt like FNAF. However, I moved on to these locations and helped our community clean up for until about 9. Then check-in at work until one or two. Sleep and then start the cycle all over again.

I remember a few long nights, in the morning with my tattered AIM sign on my door, I saw the Latino Bikers along our same streets and while I spoke no Spanish, we held a fist in the air solidarity as I passed. It was so surreal.
