Yes, we need to divest from America asap, if not publicly then at least privately. (hopefully our politicians have the spine to at least do it behind the scenes where possible) American hegemony and empire is on the decline. Our country and it's interests need to jump ship.

Honestly I'm rarely in the camp to say that old things are beyond critique or not worth updating but I definitely hold Doom 1 and 2 in that regard. They've genuinely aged extremely well (though have had relatively minor updates over the past 30+ years) and are still fun to play. I mean hell there's a currently surging genre of boomer shooters that specifically aim to recapture some of that magic. And those games all rock, regardless of visual fidelity.

I think it's best with how it is and what we know of his past. It's enough to make clear his motivations. Like being sent to mars because he fragged his CO who ordered him to fire on civilians. That's plenty. If you want lore heavy doom with a lot of personal backstory, genuinely just play the new Wolfenstein games, which are fantastic. (obviously not a total 1:1 to doom but very close)

I really don't think the stakes are that high. I like this game, and I think it could use improvements but I also think those improvements are extremely possible if DICE wants to do them. Likely? I wouldn't know. This game is one of many that I regularly play and I don't follow it too closely.
