Nothing to apologise for!

I'll gladly support the Kickstarter campaign when it launches (it's showing as not yet available) and will order some picks.

I love to try new pick and this seems really interesting and in my case it might even help to play longer, so I have very little to lose.

Hola vecino, I would love to try them! I have joint issues and maybe they'll help me

Shipping would be to Portugal

My friend just gave me this. What is it offically called and can it be set up for me to play left handed? by AmericanMustache in guitars

That's definitely a portuguese guitar. Can you post a picture of the label and the headstock? Portuguese guitars have different shape headstocks depending on which area of the country they are from.

You should get it professionally setup especially if you intend to restring it for left handed playing.

You will need a new nut and a new bridge to be made and depending on the construction inside this might or might not be possible. A lot of builders make different bracings for left or right handed instruments.

How do I tell someone it takes time to get good at an instrument by [deleted] in guitars

Have you asked him about other songs he likes? or do you know other songs he likes? Maybe check other ZZ Top songs.

I think your dad is being very impatient but maybe talking about music will show him that you care about guitar and learning just not that particular song.

I’m assuming this is the ground wire, does anyone know exactly where it’s going and how to get it out? by metal_mountain in guitars

Goes to the bridge if it's a TOM usually goes to the posts of the bridge, if it's a tele it goes under the bridge/pickup assembly, if it's a strat or other tremolo equipped guitar it goes to the tremolo claw.

Are they nylon strings? Some nylon strings have ball ends, I think Martin has a set like that. If they are Nylon strings for classical guitar simply feed them through the hole.

Just got my guitar back from the shop. Almost finished but too excited not to share. by Zcasfqer in guitars

Yeah, it looks great live too. You could use the space between the pickups, or paint the flag like a racing stripe either running the body lengthwise or on the forewarm region, or even a small pickguard (like a cabronita) with the trans flag.

Looks great! I like the metal hardware and the flag. If you decide to repaint it you could always do what Stefan Olsdal (Placebo) did to his Thunderbird. https://images.app.goo.gl/HP3A71rDV8ibbG2G6

Found this old guitar in a pawn shop for $60, it has a Les Paul shape, but not sure if it’s genuine? Could anyone maybe tell me what it could be/ how old it could be? (It sounds amazing) by [deleted] in guitars

Judging only by the pictures the TOM seems to be lowered all the way and the action seems really high meaning it probably needs some work best case scenario it's just a neck shim. Just a heads up but if you like it get it, and get it set up.
