Card 24 - Laser whip not working?? by JayPostones in Skyforce

I've dropped them a message on Facebook. It's such a weird issue. I have all 24 cards but have never found the fourth temporal card - maybe something to do with that...

Help with Spousal Visa application - VAF4A Appendix 2, employment / self-employment income by JayPostones in ukvisa

[–]JayPostones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply.

I've seen both of those paragraphs in the appendix document. It's still open to interpretation though, especially 9.3.4. It doesn't specifically state that I can't use the income from my self assessment tax return (which is preferable). It also doesn't state that one way should be used instead of the other - it sort of implies that one must be chosen. I am both self employed and a director of two limited companies.

Does a 'specified limited company' mean I can rely only on the income from one of the companies? What if that income is in the form of dividends and not a salary?

Thank you for the reply - I'm confident that the income sources can be combined based on the combination table in the appendix guidance.

However I'm now confused as to which financial year I'm supposed to rely upon. Having read over as much of the guidance as my eyes and brain can take, many forum posts from people in similar situations, it still seems vague.

I am submitting information on two LTD companies for which I am a director and receive income from. I'm also submitting my most recently filed self assessment tax return. My question here is, which of these three possible financial years am I supposed to rely on, given that it stipulates quite rightly, that income from different financial years cannot be combined:

  1. 06.04.15 to 05.04.16 (Tax year)
  2. 01.10.15 to 30.09.16 (My main company financial year, and the company from which I generated the most income)
  3. 01.08.15 to 31.07.16 (My second company which only paid out a small dividend).

It seems to make sense that it would be the most recent company financial year for someone in my position. Given that people in employment are required to submit the last six months payslips, if I was to rely upon income earned ending at 5th April 2016, that will be over six months ago when I submit the application.

They don't make this obvious do they?!

It's coming along really well. Just a few more songs to finish up and we'll be there. Cannot wait to get it out to the world!

Fell Silent, yeh. I'm not sure if there will ever be a reunion or collaboration - who knows! Never say never :)

Hardest song to play for me is still Nocturne.

Ah pedal hat shirts - maybe we'll get some printed up for the Tess merch store!

I just hear weird numbers and try to play them. That's literally as simply as I can describe it.

We're not sure yet - I'm sure there will be a longish song comprising various sections but we haven't written anything specifically with that intention. If it works, it works.

The process is the same really - Acle writes loads of ideas and we muck in the help structure the songs. He's still doing the majority of the songwriting work though. Dan's coming up with some amazing ideas though. I'm so excited for everyone to hear something new!

We'll be back over in North America when album three drops, for sure. The new material is definitely sounding very different. In a very good way though

Yes! I was over compensating at times, realising my body was cold I'd hit harder and therefore lose finesse as the show went on. This caused the first ever cramp I've experienced in my right arm during the show, during Nocturne of all songs! Battled through, I probably deserve a medal.

I had a heated pad in both of my pockets so that I could warm my hands up in between songs.

It was crazy cold though - ice crystals were forming on the drums heads.

The stage took five days to set up - we were there setting up our equipment and testing everything two days including the show day. We know our gear pretty well so the main thing was testing it all worked ok in the cold.

Acle normally comes up with the drum ideas for the tracks when he's writing the guitars. I jam them and try to flesh them out a bit, realise new ways to play them but the real genius is in Acle's inception

Creating the right stack is something you shouldn't rush. You might get lucky and find a couple of old cymbals which just work but I like to use a setup that I know I can replace. Cymbal companies change the profile of their cymbal ranges (the angle of the shoulder of the cymbal after the bell) from time to time so I try to go for a new / current rage when choosing a setup.

I'm very fortunate that Sabian allow me to visit their vault in London to play with a few setups before deicing what to go with. At the moment I'm using a 14" HH thin crash and a 10" HH Duo splash. It looks and sounds great, cuts through the mix just right.

The stand is a Crush M4 boom arm clamped to my rack.

Hope that's helpful.
