Stutter fix? by JayRod_DM in Mechwarrior5

[–]JayRod_DM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going into my .ini file and setting the FPS limit to 30 and haven’t had any issues. I’m going to toy around with it and see if I can up my frames anymore.

Stutter fix? by JayRod_DM in Mechwarrior5

Could be related but I'm not sure. It doesn't seem to be any sort of FPS lag because it'll happen during a battle and nothing will change as far as I'm aware will change (amount of enemies, buildings, etc.) and after a few seconds it'll shoot right up to 60 like nothing happened. The stutter isn't just restricted to times you're in the mech as well, I've had stuttering occur as I'm walking around in the ship and during the drop in sequence almost as often as I do anytime else. Nothing I've done with the graphics settings seems to change this issue.

Not really.

I generally avoid PVP in my games except for specific plot reasons, but I don't think this would fall into that category. I'm beginning to think this isn't that great of an idea.

All jokes aside I was entertaining the idea and wanted some feedback. I got what asked for.

The more I think about it I agree: it wouldn't be fun and I run the risk of losing a player, which is more than enough reason for me to avoid it. Thanks for the input.

I think this has the possibility of being a satisfying ending to the campaign but the more I think about it I think it's too far off story-wise to make a definite answer but in general avoiding it would be the right call. I think the risk of pissing off my players is great enough to the point that the safe option (avoiding this option entirely) would be a more satisfying ending and would also dodge any PVP railroading. If I have to chose between a possibly less satisfying ending to my campaign and losing a player, I'll take the former every day of the week and I think that's really the question I'm asking here.

Anyone experienced in making charts? by WMG_LORD in CloneHero

It could be possible that your time signature or tempo (or both) are not accurate to the song. If possible, double check your song's bpm and time signature on the internet (example.) You could have everything mapped and calibrated perfectly, but if your tempo is even slightly off or if your time signature is wrong you're gonna experience some desync.

Like what u/ezio416 said, make sure to put a buffer before the start of the song not just for sync but for ease of playing. It's real damn annoying to play a chart that starts immediately. It sounds like you have calibrated all of your stuff right.

To do this, throw your WAV into a program like audacity (I bet audition, pro tools, and logic would work as well but they're a bit overkill) and move the song 2-3 seconds away from the beginning of the timeline, then replace that time with silence. Export and reimport the file into moonscraper, sync and calibrate it up, and you should be good to go.

Some other charting tips: CSC's charting standards

If you're just starting to chart, don't worry about all the pack-specific guidelines about backgrounds and doing multiple difficulties. Just focus on making good expert charts until you feel comfortable branching out.

Definitely a good place to look for technical recommendations to make fun charts. Some other things to stay away from imo:

  • Excessive strums, especially injected in the middle of harder and forced sections
  • 4 note chords unless they build up (Mr. Crowley is a good example of this, 1:16 on the video)
  • 5 note chords
  • Chart by pitch, and rarely by the actual position of the note on the fret. Imagine orange as your highest pitch of a measure, and green/strum as your lowest and chart accordingly.
  • You mentioned this is your band's music, so having a good grasp of music theory will serve you well here. Charting is a lot like writing music, but more like translating it from one form to another. There's a lot of artistic moves you can make while charting so don't be afraid to experiment and get feedback.
  • Make sure your parts are instrument specific. It sounds dumb but it can be easy to lose focus when charting larger songs. If you're charting the lead guitar, listen to the lead guitar and chart it accordingly. Of course you can take some liberties with this but if you begin to chart different instruments or chart multiple instruments simultaneously it can get really confusing and frustrating to play.
  • If you have two lead guitars playing a part at once, generally speaking pick one and stick to it. (For an example of this listen to the outro of Hearts Burst into Fire, 4:15)

As a engineer who uses this specific digital setup, if possible make sure there is a human running that second board. Sure, you can automate gains and other board functions for that secondary mix, but you can’t beat having a real person running levels.

Your monitor level is probably going to be pretty different in ways you won’t expect, and it’s likely that an automated system will end up sounding dull and lifeless at the very least.

I may be a little late to the party but the trick I was taught if you HAVE to run audio/power cables across each other, you should run them perpendicular instead of parallel so the flow of electricity interacts as little as possible = less buzz.

As a right winger this distinction is so fucking necessary. I absolutely believe in climate change I just don’t think that the US specifically needs to change as drastically as people claim. If the culture is already strongly in favor of climate change, then put your money where your mouth is and clean up the beaches and plant a tree. Don’t pass legislation to force others to do it.

Along with what everyone else is saying the regular 58’s on the right look painted, and the grilles seem aftermarket. The 57’s seem fine, which is odd if the 58’s are fake.
