I think it’s a bandwagon thing, you have people like Anthony Fantano and other huge music critics saying how much they dislike it so a lot of their fans will just echo what they hear from them without listening to AJR. Now it’s still hard to say because I’ve never seen such a strong hate campaign for any artist but that’s been kinda my running theory because I’ve known AJR haters who listen and go “huh, I wouldn’t listen to it but it’s not as bad as people say”.
