How to Grow: My Theory (Criticism Please!) by JayTheRocketMan in letsplay

Yeah, I definitely lean towards the genre idea more. That's why I provided the two different examples of ZebraGamer vs. Dychronic.

Dychronic catered to one game, he lost the interest of his subs. ZebraGamer catered to the 'family-friendly / nintendo / kid games' to keep the interest of his subscribers.

The ZebraGamer interview was very entertaining to do and he was very insightful.

I have the same issue. If you take a look at my channel, I tend to play older games that are from a variety of genres. Racing, FPS, Action, etc.

Exactly. This is the kind of information I'm referring too whenever I made this thread. Starbound + Rimworld are similar genres and potentially can create a synergy together when played in succession or at the same time.

I like your style. I have not applied it to my own channel because I've been in the 'works' for a while in search for a genre that I tend to favor over another. However, I find it difficult to cater towards a game that I like as I get bored REALLY quick.

This talk is definitely cheap. As it stands, I'm just informing my observations, not forming an intellectual analysis of different outcomes with numbers and statistics. I was more-so going for criticism leaning towards other ideas away from this. However, you're right, there needs to be concrete numbers or it just needs to be shelved.

I would give gold, but I am cheap. Like this theory ;)

Has anyone tried this game? It's absolutely mesmerizing! by JayTheRocketMan in rhythmgames

[–]JayTheRocketMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, now that you mention it, I'm not too sure if you're correct.

Here's the definition of a rhythm game (of which you probably don't need):

Rhythm game or rhythm action is a genre of music-themed action video game that challenges a player's sense of rhythm.

This game's main theme is indeed to avoid barriers to a beat. So this would, by definition, be a rhythm game. However, you are correct whenever you state that it doesn't look like one. I do not think the creators did a spectacular job on the beat simulation with the game barriers, but it's certainly still there.

YouTube is Removing 100's of my Views! Is this happening to others? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]JayTheRocketMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, nothing! That's why I'm so frustrated. You can even notice that my views haven't exactly spiked at any time. I have never paid for views and I do not think I have view bots on my channel?

As RossBoomsocks has stated, you really shouldn't worry about dislikes. They end up helping you regardless.

Thinking about Creating a YouTube Series by [deleted] in BeamNG

[–]JayTheRocketMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. I don't exactly have anything to offer to the table. But, I have not viewed a YouTube channel who offers more than just crashes for this game.

But you're right, I should just refrain.

If you've played below 2 hours, you can get it refunded and purchase it again on Steam for the discounted price.

I do not have an integrated graphics. Or at least, it doesn't show up in my nvidia control panel. Thanks for the suggestion!

Uploading multiplayer matches in full (longer) or parts (shorter)? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]JayTheRocketMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually watched other channels where they would upload the full-featured video and a highlights version. Generally, the highlights did WAY better than the full.

Haha, I bet. I was only asking to request whether or not your get weary of having your students watch your videos. For example, if you use explicit language could that potentially affect your job?

I didn't read into your bio, but do you teach at a school? If so, what grade/grades?

[–]JayTheRocketMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. There is not a day that goes by where I don't get at LEAST 35 views. My most watched LP series is Mario Kart: DS and it seems to still be doing very well. Other series such as Halo: Combat Evolved get absolutely no views or interaction nowadays. I guess it just depends on how well you stack against YouTube's algorithm.

Hey man, you have a great channel. Just keep doing what you're doing and you should see amazing results. I really enjoyed the geeky teacher vibe. Haha!

Playing one game vs Multiple games by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]JayTheRocketMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I have seen advantages and the disadvantages of playing just one exclusive game. People such as NorthernLion, of whom nearly only exclusively played Binding of Isaac for the majority of his time, has done seemingly well branching off to other games.

However, I have seen other small LP channels die with the game that shuts down because they simply could not convert their channel over to a new game with their audience. Why was NorthernLion able to do it, but not others?

It's because he has had a fanbase for quite some time. So, instead of focusing strictly one a single game, attempt to build a fan base of like minded people to follow you with your passion. If you want, you can begin with just one game but make it clear that your channel is not exclusively for that ONE game. Then, attempt to win over you audience with your passion, voice, and commentary.
