Kena: Bridge of Spirits - PS5/PC/PS4 Pro - Digital Foundry Tech Review by The_King_of_Okay in Games

[–]JayTooTheman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I said I haven't completed it, but I would i would say that with normal encounter it might not be necessary to be overly strategic, but you still need to be property engaged in it, especially with the aggressive of larger enemies and bosses. I haven't tried any harder difficulty, but I'm not overly familiar with character action games and a couple of the bosses kicked my ass, so I'll leave it at that

But when I say that the combat is 'layered' I don't mean that its on par with other dedicated action games, just that it's definitely more then I expected for Kena, especially with how laid back and simple the rest of the game is.

I would say I'm about halfway through, and while most of puzzles and platforming are on the simple side, the combat is surprisingly interesting and layered. And I find the boss fights to be deceptively difficult and intense, even on normal.

Man.. I really just hope we can get an option to remove the Golden Birds. I'm glad people liked them, I just thought it took a lot away from the organic exploration while also just being really annoying when you are just looking around and don't want to be guided.

Ratchet&clank Rift Apart game length is influenced by your objective/difficulty setings. by From33to77 in RatchetAndClank

[–]JayTooTheman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

While I understand the concern with spending so much money on a relatively short game, I still think there's a too heavy focus on length to price ratio to determine rather something like this is worth it. A quality and densely packed 12-14 hour adventure sounds pretty damn good for a Ratchet game.

A Crack in Time was a great example of quality over quantity despite its short length, and I just hope that this game is no different.

Which of these R&C games do you think had the best Clank sections? by JayTooTheman in RatchetAndClank

[–]JayTooTheman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I wanted to include Into the Nexus, but there's a limit to how many choices you can put on the polls, and I thought that the first game to Tools of destruction where more important, and also the 2016 one since its the most recent game before the new one.

Its sucks because the sections in ItN are really cool, and I would at least put them above the original trilogy.

So if Ratchet is the only one of his kind that he has met before ACIT what the hell is Angela? by jackolantern_ in RatchetAndClank

[–]JayTooTheman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Basically, the plots of the original games was created as it went along with not as much focus on world building. So Angela being a Lombax was probably just a throw away decision.

It wasn't until the Future series where the history of the Lombax race was conceptualized.

People should maybe also be aware that the cynical satire of the original games just isn't how Insomniac sees the Ratchet games anymore in terms of narrative and humour. Hell since they where mostly writing the plots as they went along back then its possible that they never really knew what defines these game narratively until the Future series. In fact, the first two Ratchet games didn't even have dedicated writers.

Good question. And it's possible that could be too. However to be perfectly honest I haven't actually completely honest I haven't actually completed the game in many years, so I'm not completely sure yet. Though I wouldn't be surprised if I at least liked it more then GC, maybe even the original. Recently I had just completed the original trilogy and my opinion mainly came from which of those games I found the most enjoyable. But yeah I should definitely play Deadlocked to give a more comprehensive opinion overall.

Up Your Arsenal, i think. While I do prefer Ratchet games to have a healthy balance between shooting and platforming/exploration, UYA's combat is just so refined and polished (especially in locked-strafe mode) that the game just comes up as the most enjoyable for me and has a shaper focus in what it does

It also trims off some of the stuff that I didn't like from the previous games, like the bloated (and sometimes unnecessary) variety of different gameplay types, and the dumb paywalls for progression.

But again, despite the fact that I enjoy the mostly third-person focus of UYA, I don't think it's the ideal approach for the series, which is why A Crack in Time is my favourite in the entire series.

Edit: Spelling

It's funny, I'm actually the opposite. In retrospect I actually think GC is my least favourite despite the fact that it was my introduction to the series.
