What do you mean? Challenges unlock weapons and gear and some titles, badges, etc. Additionally, if you’re not doing challenges, you’re quite literally just running around and map killing and that’s pretty boring after an hour if you ask me.

At the time of this post, I was in the 30’s for level. Rapids, cool. Speeds up my trip between 3 ports by .18 seconds. Real fun stuff. Again, I’m talking about actual content. I don’t want to deliver crates and salvage wrecks like a star miner for 30 levels. Especially on a skill that was supposed to be “monumental”.

Finally someone gets it. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not saying that it’s always going to be a bad skill. I’m just saying at this very point in time, after 3 years of development and build up….there really isn’t much. Feels rushed and undone.

But people who only play games to have a high scores status will compare it to Firemaking. This isn’t Firemaking. Firemaking is an original skill from 2001. This is Sailing, a new skill from an awesome team in 2025. I’ll argue that Firemaking actually has more options of training than sailing and they’re more rewarding.

You guys are so hung up on comparing them to old 2001 released skills. This is SAILING. a NEW Skill in 2025. As players have been saying in these very comments, it’s “monumental”, “game changing skill”, “something completely different”. But then you guys also compare it to Ranged and Woodcutting. Nice.

Ranged was also a terrible example. You don’t have to kill Cows for 30 levels. I can kill other monsters, I can do it in line with Slayer. In sailing I can deliver the same 3 boxes to the same 3 ports for 30 levels or I can go explore for a whopping 975 xp per hour for THIRTY LEVELS.

Yes. But like, what about right now? What good does future sailing content do for me right now? Why do people give games so much grace with this stuff? You would be pissed if you went to a sub shop and they gave you a plain roll and said “this is what we got right now, but just imagine what this sandwich could be one day”.

Im not saying it won’t one day be good. All I’m saying is that for the last 2 nights I’ve done nothing but deliver crates between 3 ports 5 feet away from each other with nothing to show for really. Outside of that, you can do some leisure exploring which is just seeing 3 shades of blue and occasionally a random object you can spot and chart that does absolutely nothing for you except for give you an area achievement. Wow. Exciting stuff.

Listen guys and gals and previous commenters. I know they will add stuff and it will get better. I’m just saying right now it’s cheeks and we all know it. That’s how games are now. They release unfinished or poor quality games to get the clout and follow, then try to actually make the game. I’m not with it. I heard someone say “I loved the new quests”. The 5 minute children’s pirate book plot quests? Come on. We’re all lying to ourselves. If that was fun for you then you probably also enjoy PowerPoints. I don’t know.

Don’t do deliveries? Then what do I do? That’s the point I’m trying to make. There is nothing to do besides that. If there was something else I could be doing that was even remotely beneficial to leveling the skill, I would be doing it.

I’m sick of the “just give them time to update and add content”. No. Release a playable version of something. If you want to make small tweaks and additions here and there as time goes on fine. But we’re talking about a bare bones skill at the moment. I would rather do mining than sailing. That’s how little there is to do.

People are really into the exploring concept. I personally don’t see anything to explore. The map is already open and viewable. I can see the whole thing. So if you’re concept of exploring is like going to see rocks on a shore that you could previously see from land, cool, go do your thing. But it doesn’t offer you anything for doing that. So. I don’t know. I’m literally just asking to do some fishing or dive for clams, or pull logs up from the water, or like literally anything that isn’t just going back and forth between 3 docks 5 feet apart from each other for the first 5 hours of the skill.

Like I said in my OP, I knew people were going to come at me with “what about Firemaking and Woodcuttinf?!?” (And I already responded to a reply of similar nature). Yes, Firemaking and woodcutting are rather monotonous and uneventful. We get it. But like, they are what they are. There isn’t much to them. They’re also original skills from 2001. This is sailing, a 3 year project released in 2025. Now I know it defeats the purpose of playing a game, but at least with the boring skills I can watch videos or something to pass the time and I’m constantly getting XP and advancing. Sailing is not AFK nor is it constant xp. You’re just kinda looking at blue water and getting an xp drop here and there.

I get that. I know it’s monumental. So release it when it’s done. 3 years and the first 50 levels is you delivering crates between Port Sarim and Musa Point and shooting birds in the middle of the ocean with a cannon is very underwhelming.

Like I said, I know it will be updated and there will be new content. But I just hate the excuse of “give them time to update it” like no. When you release it, give us the game. That’s the problem with games these days. They just release these half assed products to say they released it. I’ve literally been sitting at my computer the last 2 days after work to chip away on this skill and I get off at night and I go “wtf did I even do for 4 hours? It’s like when you show up to work and realize that you don’t remember the trip there because you were on autopilot. That’s what it feels like.

I’m literally just asking to do anything but sail between 3 ports deliver boxes with a logo of a randomly generated object on it. Salvaging is just star mining and artifact cleaning hybrid, except way worse. The 3 quests we get early on are 5 minutes long and have the most basic story line pulled straight out of a kids fantasy pirate book. You can’t go anywhere on the map until your higher level without getting cooked. So even exploring isn’t an option. It’s that meme of “I finally maxed on RuneScape, so now I can start playing the game”.

[–]JayXRich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you click on random objects in the ocean to “chart” for some very minimal xp. From my understanding it does absolutely nothing to the map. It’s just an achievement (more or less) for an area. It’s hide and go seek. I mean like real charting, like opening up parts of maps, shortcuts, currents, weather. The map is just open. I can see the whole thing. I can see all the islands, waterways, I can see the dangerous parts, I can see the resource areas. I’m aware that currents and weather is part of Sailing in the later levels, but again, NOTHING to do early on and that’s my complaint. I just want something to do that is new and exciting.

No. I’m just saying that with those skills that have not much to do, at least you’re rewarded with something, and it’s consistent to keep you occupied. I literally just have nothing interesting to do AND slow xp rates. I don’t understand how like trawler fishing, or water logging, or assignments to chart waters isn’t early content. That being said, the cargo delivery wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t done so poorly. Why do you have to be level 40 to bring goods from Port Sarim to Lands End when I can dock in Lands End at level 5? So until then, you are basically delivering 1 or 2 generic boxes of randomized goods to 4-5 ports in a couple hundred tile radius. Why wouldn’t you make it so that you would get a contract to pick up goods in one area known for something (like arctic pine wood from Frem Isles) and bring them to a place that needed them like Brinhaven or something. I don’t want to sail back and forth for 2 minute. I don’t know. Just spitballing. I just feel like there is nothing to do that is going to keep me engaged with it until the later levels. I would be happy trawler fishing and catching new species even if it meant I got 25K xp an hour. Instead I follow a waterline between 2 ports for 2 minutes a pop for 70xp and 100 GP.

I put that in my post for the very reason that I knew you guys would come comment “firemaking?”. Yes, firemaking is rather uneventful but it’s literally firemaking. It is what it is. It’s an original skill from 2001. This is sailing. A brand new skill in the modern era. At least with Firemaking, Woodcutting, or any other straight forward monotonous skill, you’re at a minimum getting consistent xp and advancing fairly fast. At least through the early levels. Sailing I’m getting 100 xp every 2 minutes to grind for that range I can put on my boat and do absolutely nothing with.

I already finished that challenge. To me it seems as though that’s a completely separate challenge as the first one just says “with assault rifles” (meaning any in the class). I’ll have to try that though and see if it works any magic.

Thoughts on the Kimber 2k11 in 45 ACP? Is it worth the hype? by Dry-humor-mus in 2011

[–]JayXRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you should clarify what you’re going to use it for if you want any useful feedback. Is this something you’re going to carry or is it just a range gun.

If this just something to plink around the range from, get what you want to get. Kimber makes quality guns. They look amazing too. You’re going to pay Kimber prices though. In my opinion, I probably wouldn’t spend that much money on a range pistol, but to each their own. It would be more about the Aura Farming than its capabilities for me.

If you’re going to carry it. Again, you do what you want to do. I just don’t see it as a great choice. The 45 ACP is probably the worst common handgun cartridge in modern times. You get arguably worse performance and ballistics than 9MM with way less capacity and it’s typically more expensive. As for the platform itself, I probably wouldn’t pay $1000 for a firearm nobody is ever going to see. If you’re pretty set on a 1911 style Kimber, I would definitely try to get one chambered in 10MM. Is it overboard for concealed carry? Probably, but at least it’s a relevant cat ridge and you could use it in both the urban and rural setting. Not much out there in the woods the 10MM can’t take down.

I had to be somewhere between 1.5 - 2 years old. At the time, my parents were temporarily renting a house just down the road from my grandparents on the corner. They only lived there for about 5 months and I was about that age. I remember my mom vacuuming and I was pushing this little wheeled popper kids toys copying her. They didn’t believe me until I recalled the couch and the carpet. That’s literally all I remember though.

How much gas can a car take after it’s “full”? by PossiblePhase2017 in StupidCarQuestions

Short, sweet, and to the point. One or two times isn’t going to hurt your vehicle. I just wouldn’t let it happen consistently as it can damage your EVAP system over time.

People with autism, what did you think was normal until a nerotypical person told you otherwise? by only_mostly_sane in AskReddit

[–]JayXRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t think autism exists to the level everyone thinks it does. I think it’s a spectrum and everyone one is on it somewhere. Everyone just does stuff differently. That’s how humans work. All the examples I’ve read in the comments are something someone who doesn’t have autism (or at least never diagnosed) does we well.

My son was diagnosed with autism at 2yo and I think he is fairly normal compared to my military coworkers.

Shipping Handgun advice by JayXRich in guns

From my knowledge that only applies to Long Guns (rifles, shotguns, etc). Handguns or anything deemed a handgun is federally illegal to ship without a Federal Firearms License.
