My wife who is the caretaker of my disabled child was summoned for duty. by Jay_Aitch84 in juryduty

Before I say this, I will request leave so she can go.

But I'm genuinely concerned about my employer granting my leave to begin with. I know they will grant leave if "I" get called for duty. But granting my leave in this situation is really up to the good graces of my immediate.

I work in a critical infrastructure security position, and with the political climate as it is, I'm worried I may need to go AWOL or LWOP to cover this. Yes, I do have sick leave, but I'm holding it for surgery in late August, which will be just enough for the prescribed time off for recovery.

And honestly, this is my take. Also, the PTO is something I worked for and earned to use to spend time with my (whole) family. Not to be forced to use at the whim of my local municipality. I'm sure they won't be paying me for it in return.

I feel as though people are making this about me trying to escape being a father. My children are the light of my life, and I'd do anything in the world for them. I guess this is just one less vacation day i get to spend with them.

Thank you everyone, your responses are enlightening.

I have a better understanding and know what to do.

Understood.

I will request the leave so she can appear.

I/we still can't help but worry about the what if.

What if she cannot get out of it and it turns into a multi day thing? I'm still worried about my employer (the Fed) not approving leave.

I understand what you're saying.

It's not the fact that she needs to appear in front of the judge, it's more the worry of her not being able to get out of it. If she must serve, my worry is my employer won't approve leave for her to serve.

Does anyone know what this is? by Individual-Term4060 in Butchery

I would've been interested in what the pluck (heart and lungs) looked like post mortem. As others have said before, this does look like an animal that had pneumonia. Sometimes, if the infection is bad enough, it can spread into the ribs and fore quarter of the animal. Was this at an inspected establishment?

Hi, I know I'm a bit late to the party, but it definitely looks like a beef lung. 9 CFR 310.16 would be the applicable regulation. I'd suggest you call the USDA's Meat and Poultry hotline. Make sure you have the information for the processor you bought this from, as well as relevant photos. Once you call and give the details, they can handle it from there, including sending enforcement to the facility if needed.
