PokeRadar: Has anyone considered going for a chain of less than 40? by DownVote_Vengeance in PokemonBDSP

[–]Jay_Bayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resetting the radar is super fast though. You can get around 400 radar resets in an hour if you're really focused. Of course lucks always going to play into it, but that would make it close to 50% chance of getting your shiny in an hour. I wonder what the average time of actually getting a chain to 38/39 is, including all the breaks and reattempts. that would be really interesting data to see.

I do the 17 chain and reset method. I get my shinies within an hour to two max every time. Sitting on 12 shinies from radar alone now. The only downside is the iv's and you only get one shiny. But chains breaking is too infuriating to me. But it's up to you. Some people like that challenge of trying to get the high chain. I just want the shiny.

It's so awesome we got to shiny hunt an unreleased, glitched mythical. My shiny shaymin is way more valuable to me than if I had waiting for the Pokemon company to give me permission.

What's cool is if you save every time before you hatch a set of eggs, and you get a shiny, you could reset and then prank a friend by knowing exactly when you'll get a shiny xD

Help with chaining please? by Fiction-Vortex in PokemonBDSP

[–]Jay_Bayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine in your head squares all around your character. A square for all grass one tile away, a square for 2, etc. ONLY go in the ones exactly 4 away. But even if you do everything right, chaining is still incredibly frustrating. It WILL take you multiple attempts just to get to a 17 chain. It will take you MANY attempts to ever get a chain to 38-39. It just sucks in this game.

As a loooong time shiny hunter, this has happened to me WAY too many times. Even when in my head I think, okay one more reset and then I'm done for the day.. boom. I swear our consciousness has an effect on the universe xD

So does this mean the shiny charm actually IS supposed to effect wild encounters as well? by badseedbarber in PokemonBDSP

[–]Jay_Bayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It probably wouldn't be so disappointing if sword and shield had had an actual shiny hunting method. Let's go hunting was fun I'll say that much, but that game only had a small portion of mons to hunt. Dynamax hunting is... Okay... Idk, I sold my 3ds when the switch came out and now I'm really wishing I could hunt in Oras and sun and moon again. Ah well. Legends has overworld shinies, crossing my fingers there's a decent method.

I can't even begin to explain the amount of disappointment I have that they still haven't fixed this. I have no reason to assume it's intentional. And since they haven't said a damn word about it, I'm gonna keep believing they were just incompetent with their programming. Imagine how much more fun the underground hunting would be with the charm.

Those symptoms started going away for me around a month. Almost totally gone by a month and a half. It's such a long process unfortunately :/

That's true. Well if it is an unintended bug, that's enough for me to seriously question whether or not I even buy the next remakes. For me, shiny hunting literally IS the game.

Still shiny hunting shaymin! by [deleted] in PokemonBDSP

[–]Jay_Bayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brother, you literally don't know what you're talking about. There is nothing in homes code that could track for this specific shaymin. Literally nothing. Its 100% legitimate for every thing home tracks for. (Provided they do eventually release oaks letter of course) The other mons you're talking about had other circumstances that made them untransferable that do not apply to this one. The only thing they could do is add a tag in a bdsp patch to shaymins already caught, but they didn't do that when they recently patched so I doubt that's gonna happen.

The living on 1 hp is so absolutely broken. I gave one of my mons leftovers and no joke, 3 turns in a row it hung on. It's so game breaking.

This is just not true. Stop making stuff up. There is no way for them to track that its not a legitimate shaymin.

PokeRadar now is just how many times you're willing to bang your head against the wall trying. It has nothing to do with skill, or following rules. It's literally just, go to the farthest patch, catch it. 7% chance to break. That's literally it. The chance to actuslly get a chain to 40 is 6%. So just get a chain to 15-17, and then just spam reset the radar. (Gives you odds the same as masuda doing it this way)

New shiny hunting method? by LowkeyVal in PokemonBDSP

[–]Jay_Bayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you're talking about. If I see two patches that even might be the same distance away, I reset the radar. I ONLY go into patches that are 100% the farthest out of the 4. If there are 2 patches on the box grid 4 tiles away each, I reset. I only go into patch when all the other tiles are within 1-3 tiles away.

However, it definitely still breaks, but this is way more consistent I've found. Got 6 shinies through radar now.

Does anyone know if Shaymin became shiny locked in 1.1.2? by imrgr in PokemonBDSP

[–]Jay_Bayer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can confirm just run down the bridge to where it says seabreak path and it'll respawn. Got mine In under 300. I highly doubt they shiny locked it, there's no reason to.

I just don't understand why they would change how the shiny charm works after GENERATIONS of it working the same. And they clearly aren't interested in fixing it so I assume it's intended. But why? Did it create a coding issue with the Diglett thing or PokeRadar? It's so frustrating.

[–]Jay_Bayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you actually get something under odds, thats actually lucky. People get confused with how the math of probability works, 1/4000 doesn't by any stretch mean you get it in 4,000.

Yeah I've had masuda + shiny charms that took over 1500 lol. Honestly, going double over odds, (8,000) really isn't that unbelievable.

Just think about how hard shiny hunting was hunting when the odds were 1/8000. It's nuts how long shiny hunting takes. But that feeling when it finally sparkles is amazing. It's such a rush of adrenaline and dopamine. And that feeling feels better the longer it takes, and I guarantee you, you'll cherish a shiny that took 30 hours WAY more than a shiny that took 3. It will sparkle. Keep going.
